Here are some more fall colours from around the Arboretum.
This is a hydrangea bush, at the end of its growing season.
There are a couple of pathways down from the high ground that meet here on the slope. One features a stone wall, the other uses steps and wood beams to create a pathway.
Down below, the pathways leading through here include one that passes by the Rideau Canal. Birds were out on the water when I took these shots, a good many ducks and Canada geese among them. The bridge is one that passes over a quiet creek feeding into the Canal.
Beautiful scenes and colours. This reminds me of my much loved long nature walks. :)

@Marianne: I expect by now the bush has lost those petals.
@Janis: this area is still used in winter. I'll get some shots in.
@Tanya: I love that bridge too.
I could spend hours walking about this place. It's so lush and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat one second to last is especially nice.
ReplyDeleteA nice way to spend some time walking on the pathways and enjoying the autumn colours and weather.
ReplyDeleteYou had to work very hard to find a position to take the first photos so that you got the late sunlight on the trees. there's nothing like a walking path to give a good set of photos.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks wonderful in Autumn.
ReplyDeleteStill beautiful colours, the first and the penultimate photo are my preferred.
ReplyDelete@Tex: I wonder how long the stone wall's been there.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: I enjoy walking here.
@Sharon: thank you!
@Bill: and good exercise.
@Red: at that point I really was losing the light.
@Marleen: it does, yes.
@Karl: thank you.
Your photos always remind me that I need to get off my butt and go outside to take a walk through some of the beautiful nature around here.

ReplyDeletestill blooms? rainy here today ( ;
ReplyDeleteCanada is so beautiful. If only it weren't so cold!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photos! We're expecting snow this week and I already miss the fall colors.
ReplyDeleteIt would be quite a climb for me, T think, but it's a beautiful place on the border of the canal.
ReplyDeleteExcept for those flowers, it's looking pretty wintery there.
ReplyDeleteThose pathways look very appealing. It seems better and better the more I see. Great place!
ReplyDelete@Catalyst: it does the soul some good.
ReplyDelete@RedPat: I've liked that bridge since they installed it.
@Beth: those blooms were at the end of their cycle. I was surprised to see them still. By this point, a month after I took these shots, the blooms have fallen.
@Norma: but the cold is a good thing.
@Meradeth: we've had snow here one time already, plus the odd stray flake.
@Jan: it certainly is.
@Revrunner: the cold is here most mornings now.
@Kay: these paths are very well worth the walk.
What a great place.
ReplyDeleteThat it is.

DeleteVery nice! It looks like a great place to take a walk. Except in winter that is...
ReplyDeleteI enjoy walking here. The vast majority of the time is spent on the paths lower to the lake.
DeleteI enjoy your blog. We just don't visit, and it is a pretty place to live! I have fond memories of skating on the canal. It's great in all seasons!
