Leaving the tour, this bench caught my eye, before I headed over to the rose garden, which looked lovely amid fall colours.
There was something I hadn't noticed before, a sign along the path coaxing the visitor to take in the view west. This spot is slightly uphill from the rose garden and the fountain, and the view is directly aimed at Parliament Hill, which if you click on the image, might be seen in the low saddle straight on amid the trees, in the form of the Peace Tower. This view recognizes the connection between the Governor-General and Parliament itself.
Lovely colours, and I really love the ornate bench!
ReplyDeleteWhat a solid bench!
ReplyDeleteLove the roses too.
(Still a few in our garden too.)
Beautiful garden with autumn colors.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours in the garden.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I see a rose garden, I think about Lynn Anderson's 1970 song (I Never Promised You) A Rose Garden. Glad to see they are still hanging on.

i'm always much more at home in the outside areas than in the fancy interiors. :)
ReplyDelete@Linda: I wonder why I never noticed the bench before.
ReplyDelete@Gunn: given that these shots are nearly a month old, I wonder what shape they are in now.
@Orvokki: the garden is very well tended to.
@Marianne: very much so.
@Janis: I haven't heard of that song.
@Tex: and these outside areas are well taken care of.
I'll bet this place is a riot of color in the summer!
ReplyDeleteDon't ya just love a nice bench. And the roses are still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMB
Those roses appear to be thriving in this location.

Such a bracing Northern garden
ReplyDeleteThe bench is beautiful as are the colours. The garden looks like a nice place to spend an afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice looking bench! Leaves on and around it make a lovely autumn scenery. And I enjoyed all the beautiful colors!
ReplyDeleteA great bench, and the garden looks very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe whole place is wonderful! I guess Trudeau's kids are running around there.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful garden! Love the bench.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: it is.
ReplyDelete@MB: the roses are well taken care of. I think they cover the bushes up for the winter. I can't recall if my photos from the winter indicated that or not.
@Sharon: the gardeners do a great job keeping the place in shape.
@Mari: thank you.
@Francisco: thanks!
@Cloudia: and yet very British!
@Bill: it is, yes. Quite a place to enjoy the scenery.
@Tamago: I might have to use that bench shot for my fall header next year.
@Marleen: thanks!
@RedPat: I would expect so. Rideau Cottage as it's called is over in the private portion of the property, but I imagine the family gets out and about on the grounds.
@Norma: it is beautiful.
That bench appeals to me as a place to sit and contemplate on a sunny day.
ReplyDeleteA wee bit of color still.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden, must be joyful to sit at that lovely bench for a while.
ReplyDeleteThat garden is in great shape for the fall. they have some pretty fancy trellises.
ReplyDeleteQue belo jardim. Mereceu uma pausa para as fotos que estão lindíssimas
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom domingo
The rose garden is lovely but I'm especially taken with that bench. I'm not usually impressed with benches per se but this one is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at rose garden William, the bench would look very nice in my back garden 😊
ReplyDeletewith the cool temps that suddenly set in around here lately a nice bench in the sun would be awesome. ( ;
ReplyDeleteSweet!
ReplyDelete@Catalyst: me too.
ReplyDelete@Revrunner: yes indeed.
@Jan: definitely.
@Red: they do.
@Gracita: thank you.
@Kay: I agree.
@Grace: it's a beauty.
@Beth: I think so.
@Jennifer: definitely!
