Music And The Tulips

Among the activities at Commissioners Park was a gazebo set up for music performances throughout the Tulip Festival. A school band was here as we passed by, and I photographed a couple of the painted tulip sculptures. I had thought of using these for the Music theme day later in the year- and remembered that I've already got that one set up.

The path led us on, towards more tulips.

  7. I hope that school band was better than most school bands. The one I played in so many years ago was pretty awful. But we had fun! Love the painted tulip statues.

  20. I have been amazed by your beautiful tulip header shot ever since you put it up -- and this post leaves me in utter awe! So beautiful. What an amazing walk. Can't think of a better reason to have a festival!

  21. I have been enjoying thse posts about the tulips festival, William. I agree with a previous commenter that it's too bad they are short-lived as they are colorful. We saw a similar display in Woodstock, VT recently so apparently cooler temperatures have made tulips bloom a bit later this year? Thanks for your recent comment on my post showing photos of our grandchildren and yes, they are growing up fast!

  23. Hi William. Re your comment on Ocala: There was a cartoon in the latest "New Yorker" showing two dinos or maybe gators popping human stick figures into their mouths and one says to the other, "These things could be habit-forming."

  24. @Carol: thank you!

    @Lady Fi: I love showing them.

    @Jan: thanks!

    @RedPat: hopefully they're here tomorrow- we're warming up, and that'll do a number to finish them off. I saw some tulip beds yesterday still in good shape, but heat is a deciding factor in ending the season.

    @Sallie: and sooner or later it'll be time to switch to a summer header, but I'm planning on holding off until I finish the series.

    @Beatrice: they're short lived, but photos preserve them forever! Yes, we had cooler temperatures as well, and that seemed to have played a part in them staying around a bit longer too. Other years, I've seen them all gone by Victoria Day.

    @Norma: so do I.

    @Lowell: hah!
