A reminder to readers in the Ottawa area that the Impressionist Treasures exhibit at the National Gallery ends on September 9th, and is well worth taking in. I paid a visit on Labour Day again and enjoyed it. Photos will be forthcoming down the line. Now then, to today's post...
"The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys."
One weekend in July I happened to go down to the farmer's market at Lansdowne. Nearby, a series of contemporary sports cars were out on show, some of them from dealers, some of them from private owners. The characters from the nonsensical noisy franchise otherwise known as The Fast And The Furious were nowhere to be seen.
This one was of course the oldest of the set, since DeLoreans haven't been built since the 1980s. This one is a match in colour for the one from the Back To The Future series, without Doc Brown's additions of time travel equipment. Weren't we supposed to have hover cars by now?
The Porsche and Aston-Martin side by side both caught my eye. There was no sign of suave British secret agents around the latter car, nor any sign that Q Branch had made any additions.
my question is always: "what COLOUR is your car?" that way I can remember it, otherways- marks, models.... I'll never find it in parking. ;-)ReplyDelete
Very expensive toys!ReplyDelete
Continuação de uma boa semana.
Dedais de Francisco e Idalisa
O prazer dos livros
...DeLoreans were way before their time when they came out, what a car!ReplyDelete
Love the look of them but that’s as far as it goes!ReplyDelete
Those are nice looking cars. I liked Back To The Future when I was a kid. It looks we have to wait for hover cars a lot longer :-)ReplyDelete
Wow, nice cars! Enjoy your day!ReplyDelete
@Klara: I find it hard to tell one model from another.ReplyDelete
@Nancy: quite expensive.
@Francisco: thank you!
@Tom: Great Scott!
@Marie: I'd rather drive a Jeep.
@Tamago: yes, no hover cars yet!
So true! Hover cars I remember in magazines. At least we've made it to the Moon. Now onto what vehicle brand will be first on Mars. :)ReplyDelete
Those are some wonderful cars.ReplyDelete
I'm glad I can't afford one of them. And if I could, I would get way too many fines for speeding, I think ... ;-)
They are fun to look at, but I'm also one who would prefer a more sedate car. :-)ReplyDelete
Wow. I love the colours!ReplyDelete
Wow that's quite a display William ☺ReplyDelete
Pretty fancy. we probably won't see these on a street nearby.ReplyDelete
These remind me of the funky loaner car I have right now that's blue all over except for a white roof.ReplyDelete
@Maywyn: getting to Mars might be beyond the capabilities of the human body at present, when you think of how much of an effect a year in orbit has on the physiology.ReplyDelete
@Jan: many people would be speeders!
@DJan: a Jeep would be ideal for me.
@Jennifer: they certainly are colourful.
@Grace: definitely so.
@Red: they tend to spend most of their time, I imagine, in garages, and nowhere near a gravel road.
@Revrunner: that sounds funky!
You don't see many DeLoreans anymore. I haven't seen one in person in years. Lots of colorful cars in this show. I'm drawn to the convertible.ReplyDelete
When I was a young girl boys tried to impress me with sportscars ! I found them not very comfortable because you sit almost on the street. For me a car has to have 4 wheels a steering wheel, breaks and that's it, lol _ReplyDelete
There is a lot of $$ sitting along that curb!ReplyDelete
Ja sind tolle Autos.ReplyDelete
@Sharon: I've also seen one, tricked out with the flux capacitor from the films, outside a showing of the three films.ReplyDelete
@Gattina: that's a problem for me. I wouldn't like being that low to the ground.
@Lady Fi: that they are.
@Noke: thank you!
Big bucks for those colourful hot cars. The "boy racers" here would love these, they could race each other to death.ReplyDelete
I'll tell you what I really love about this. These are happy color cars. Here in the US it seems that one almost only sees black, white or silver (or charcoal/dark) cars. If you are lucky enough to see a bright blue or fire-engine red we call out "happy color car." The black pick-ups and SUVs tend to drive very fast, passing everyone or getting right behind them, too close. I love the yellow, blue and green ones especially but actually, I love them all. And I don't even much care about cars!ReplyDelete
I like the last photo of the man on his wheels looking at the larger 'wheels':)ReplyDelete
Dynamic colors and photos of the autos ~ReplyDelete
Happy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores
So many beauties, all together !ReplyDelete
Nice rides but I'd pick a classic car show n' shine over them any day! lolReplyDelete
I'm not really a car person!ReplyDelete
But these did look good!!!
All the best Jan
i think i would like the red or yellow please. love me some cool cars. ( ;ReplyDelete
What a collection!ReplyDelete
I don't even know which one I prefer.
I'd choose the car from 'Back to the future'.ReplyDelete
@Bill: these are made for speed!ReplyDelete
@Jeanie: I do notice a lot of variety in colours.
@Rosie: I hadn't noticed his wheels until after I'd put the post together. I didn't see it when I was there.
@Carol: thank you!
@Karl: a lot of them!
@Jenn: I would end up going for a Jeep.
@Jan: they're flashy, but my eyes would go elsewhere.
@Beth: they're all cool.
@Catarina: the DeLorean for me.
@Klara: it's quite a car. I imagine it would be hard getting parts for these days.
