Today we start with this self portrait. Paraskeva Clark painted Myself in 1933.
Here we have two paintings by the same artist, Lilias Torrance Newton. Portrait Of Frances Loring is from 1942, while her Self Portrait was done in 1929.
Two works of art, linked together, are exhibited together. Gordon Davies painted the artist Elizabeth Wyn Ward in 1936 in a painting titled Gesture And Elizabeth.
Ward has her sculpture present in the painting, and it is beside the painting as well. This is Gesture.
Here we have two abstract works by the same artist, Bertram Brooker. Both date to 1929. This is Ascending Forms and Evolution.
The Gesture is my fav.
ReplyDeleteI like all of these. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portraits. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe two last once must have been created after a bottle of wine !! It's not easy to do a self portrait I learned that in art school !
ReplyDeleteI looked online for photos of the two artists who did the self portraits. Lets just say that they made rather flattering likenesses of themselves.
ReplyDelete@Iris: it's a good one.
ReplyDelete@Linda: thank you.
@Nancy: thanks.
@Gattina: I couldn't do it.
@John: that happens.
...classic genre of painting.
ReplyDeleteGesture is a wonderful sculpture, but I like the last two paintings too.

ReplyDeleteYou will have to put all these images together in a coffee table book, William.
