The Vimy sculptures housed here at the War Museum are haunting in their collective sorrow.
Moving out of Regeneration Hall, we come into the Lebreton Gallery, where a large collection of vehicles, artillery, and equipment from multiple countries and multiple periods are housed for the visitor to walk among. They include, at left, a one man submarine from the Second World War.
Two large plaques are side by side. They once hung at the flagship location of the Eaton's department store chain in Toronto before that company went under. They commemorate the company's dead of both World War One and World War Two.
The space is dominated by a CF-100 Voodoo interceptor mounted above it all.
Here we have navy guns.
Military gear is scary.

I think so.
DeleteThe Vimy sculptures are magnificent.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteReminiscent of the world war one tribute art in 30th Street station in Philadelphia. A very striking giant sculpture of an angel retrieving a dead soldier to heaven. I don't think we do as good a job in addressing and healing a collective grief much superior to tearing at each other as seems to be the fashion today. Best wishes to you, William
