Finding Home

A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme for March 1st is Comfort Food.

This ice sculpture is for Doctors Without Borders, and is titled Finding Home Again, a reflection of the theme of forced migration by a mother and child. A scarf is tied among the ice, and butterflies are encased into the ice.

Of course an event like this, people bring their dogs for a good walk.

These large hourglasses caught my eye. White balls within, and you use the wheel at the side to turn the hourglass and get it going.

Ice benches are popular for photo ops.

  1. I'd need financial encouragement and a certain amount of insulation before you'd get me to sit on an ice bench!

  3. In our country today is a national fundraising campaign for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. In that context, I think the first sculpturr fits well with this day.

  12. Wow -- these are fabulous! All of them! Between company last week, prepping for a Cork Poppers do, an ear and/or sinus infection, and then this week's mass shooting in our town, I'm so behind blog reading, I'll never catch up! I'll try to take a look at all but not comment and hopefully be back on schedule this week!
