Sparks Street is a pedestrian only retail area downtown, and it is here that the ice sculptures have returned. I was down on the first Sunday of the festival last week, when the competitive sculptures were being finished off. The first one along the way is a sculpture made specifically for photo ops.
Public art is also found. This is I Am, an interactive sculpture by Bela Simo.
The Faces Of Change is inspired by carvings inside Centre Block on Parliament Hill.
Looking forward to more ice-sculptures - they impress me every time you show them.

ReplyDeleteVery much so.
DeleteThat sculpture is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteI enjoyed both posts of the ice sculptures; I'm glad your Winterlude is back, but I did wonder why they moved the "venue". You say that one rink will be the only ice skating -- so no using the river this year? That is sad. I always marveled at your pictures of that iced river!
ReplyDeleteNot sure why they moved it here. At the very least they should be sheltering some of them. Unfortunately we've had an odd winter with up and down temps. While we've had a lot of snow, we haven't had the consistent cold for the Canal to be deemed safe for skating.
DeleteWow! ~ such creative ice sculpture and neat photos too ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
