Today I begin a series on autumn colours around the area. It's been a slow season here. One tree I can always count on to start early is in Dundonald Park, where I took this shot in August.
Another August shot, outside a house nearby in Centretown. This one was just getting started.
Here it was in September.
Another tree in Centretown.
This one's in Little Italy, and by now has lost the bulk of its leaves. But on a couple of occasions passing through in September, it was going bright red.
In the second half of that month, I was on the Portage Bridge to take photos of the Ottawa River for my twice a month series. On the way, this caught my eye.
A short walk beyond, these caught my eye on Victoria Island, where the ruins of an old mill still stand.
Later in September, returning to Little Italy, I took this shot. A few days later, the leaves were off the tree.
And that same maple, a few days on from the prior shots.
I finish today in Westboro, where at the end of September I passed by this church, with its trees turning into autumn colours. This building houses two congregations- All Saints Anglican and First United Churches.
A good start, chilly at my place this morning, maybe 4C.
ReplyDeleteSimilar temperatures here at night.
DeleteYour area colors are much like the local trees in town here. The colors are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteIn August already? When I look outside... still green :-) But only 4C...
ReplyDeleteAn odd tree here and there.
DeleteAugust seems early, but I guess the tree knows best.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
DeleteVery pretty colours in these days, here too.
ReplyDeleteThere are.
DeleteLove the beautiful and colorful trees! Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteOur maples are mostly disappointing this year for their colour though a few have become red. These shots are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's been that kind of year.
DeleteGlorious nature colourful captures!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Delete...maples are the showstoppers.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteEarly leaf changes show up well against the green that is still predominant.
ReplyDeleteThey do.
DeleteAs you may remember, I rather like half-changed trees.
ReplyDeleteI do too.
DeleteLovely colours, autumn is still getting going here.
ReplyDeleteIt's a long change here.

DeleteIt has been strange down here this year. Some trees just dropped their leaves before really changing colour and others are still green with a few turning now. And then some trees turned yellow and are now bare.
ReplyDeleteIt was dry at times over the summer, and that has been an influence.
DeleteThank you William for sharing these beauties I do not see in Honolulu! Aloha friend
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Cloudia.
DeleteSon preciosos los colores de otoño. Los árboles se visten de otro color.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
Thank you.
DeleteFall is a pretty time of year.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is.
DeleteNice shots of your start of autumn.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteMy favourite season, we don't have nearly this many colours here
ReplyDeleteWe get a lot, but depends on the year.
DeleteGreat fall colors in your photos. Our colors were more subtle this year as our summer was so hot and dry.
ReplyDeleteThat was a problem here too.
DeleteGreat to see the leaves turning
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteYou are far ahead of my downstate Michigan color, William. It's lovely.
ReplyDeleteSome trees vary their time.
DeleteAutumn is a fantastic season, the shifting colours bring a magical quality to the trees.
ReplyDeleteIt does.
DeleteThe colours are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
They are.
