The Hunt For Red October

More views today from the Champlain Lookout.

A series of panels here looks at the geological history of the Eardley Ecarpment and the Valley.

During the last ice age, the sheet of ice covering this area was two kilometres thick.

After the ice age ended, the valley below was ocean, until the seas drained off over time.

Today, the Ottawa Valley lies below, and the escarpment is an intricate ecosystem.

I headed down to the lower area.

There's a hiking trail that descends to the valley floor from here. My ankle would not permit it, though I've done it before.

The views are a marvel.

  1. What a beautiful place to quietly enjoy the colorful view. Too bad about your ankle, I know what it feels like to be limited on these kinds of trips.

  2. Very beautiful. Had to laugh at the title. Was jobbing at the food factory, early shift. Boyfriend took me to the cinema for that movie. I fell asleep.

  11. What a beautiful time of year to walk along this trail, even if it is steeply up and down hill. The fall colors are amazing.
