The first day of the month is a theme day for members of City Daily Photo, and for February, that theme is Street Corners. Check out how other members are handling this theme right here.
I start with this shot taken from one street corner- Bank Street and Marche Way, looking towards the north stands portion of the stadium at Lansdowne Park. The Aberdeen Pavilion is off in the background to the left.
Another street corner, this in Little Italy. Preston Street is the main thoroughfare of the neighbourhood. Just south of the 417 overpass is Young Street, seen from across the way. The bridge is due to be completely replaced this year- and the way they do it here is to build the bridge close by, and move it into place in the space of three or four days.
Dundonald Park occupies a city block downtown. This is from the corner of Somerset Street West and Bay Street.
An office building downtown; the location is Laurier Avenue and O'Connor Street.
At Laurier Avenue and Metcalfe Street is the main branch of the Ottawa Public Library.
Somerset Street West and Bronson Avenue intersect here in the Chinatown neighbourhood. The Chinatown Arch is over there a block west at the corner of Somerset and Cambridge Street.
More office buildings, and downtown. This is at the corner of Slater Street and O'Connor.
While this is at Slater and Metcalfe.
This is taken at the corner of Bank and Laurier.
A turn to the left looks across the street to the far corner on the north side of Laurier.
Taken at Wellington Street and Metcalfe- Centre Block on Parliament Hill is across the street. This was taken a few days ago- the Slovak president has been in town, and on such occasions, Wellington gets lined with the flags of Canada and the country in question.
And lastly, taken a few minutes later, at Wellington and Kent Street, this is St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
The upcoming bridge construction sounds interesting. The arch looks a bit lonely in the Winter weather.
