Actaea, The Nymph Of The Shore

We begin today with The Little Water-carrier, an 1863 painting by William Bell Scott

Two final views for this visit of the lovely Dancer.

Here we have an unknown British artist, circa 1830. The painting is titled View On The River Wye.

Man On A Rope was painted by Honore Daumier, circa 1858-60.

Actaea, The Nymph Of The Shore is the title of this 1868 work by Frederic Leighton.

The Dark Night is a 1907 painting by David Muirhead.

Here we see Henrietta Skerrett Montalba, an 1882 painting by Princess Louise, the Duchess of Argyll.

And today we conclude with this morbid work. Salome With The Head Of John The Baptist was painted circa 1895-98 by Jean-Joseph-Benjamin Constant. We'll return to this series after the theme day.

  1. Such gravity and importance so different to the ephemera we're swimming in today online. Much to slow down and appreciate William. Aloha

  7. Nymphs are a fine subject for artists. The "Man on a Rope" seems to be an impressionist painting, but too early for the impressionist movement.
