Canadiana

Today we begin with Summer Harvest, Hanover, a painting by Carl Schaefer, dating to 1935.

Another work by Schaefer- Ontario Farmhouse dates to 1934.

This display case features a number of sculptures by Inuit artists.

Here we get into abstraction. This is Tribute To The Lilies- Pavane, a 1954 work by Jean Paul Riopelle.

Another look into the garden courtyard.

Flat Blue, Flat White, Stove Enamel is the title of this 1960 painting by Art McKay.

Now we get into works by indigenous artists. Norval Morrisseau of the Anishinaabe painted Untitled (Child) around 1971, at left. At right is his Untitled (Shaman), also dating to that time.

This large canvas by Morrisseau is Artist And Shaman Between Two Worlds, a 1980 painting.

Carl Ray, an artist of Cree background, painted Binay sih in 1977.

Ja Ka Byash Is Trapped is another work by Ray, also dating to 1977.

And I finish the Canadian galleries with Spinner #1, by Joan Balzar, a 1965 work. Tomorrow we start looking at some world art.
