Shadows And Light Within A Sanctuary

The sanctuary in Knox Presbyterian Church has a very light feel inside. I showed you the exterior a few days ago in my Two Churches post. The current church was finished in 1932, though the congregation has its roots further back into the 19th Century.

  7. Looks almost like a small cathedral. Presbyterian churches here are quite different.

  11. @Grace: arches are a great appeal to me too.

    @Linda: yes, it added something to the shot.

    @Cloudia: I was pleased by the look of the image.

    @Bill: it is. Nothing overdone in here like you might see in a Catholic cathedral.

    @Marianne: it is a detail that really appeals to me.

    @Revrunner: thanks!

    @VP: I certainly thought so.

    @Beth: thank you!

    @Lowell: Presbyterian churches can be very different from each other even in a city. There's one I have to photograph sometime, though it's a bit out of my way. Quite different from this one.

    @Jane and Chris: thanks!

    @Birdman: I hope all is well.

    @Sharon: so do I.

    @Aimee: thanks!

    @Linda: this one lets in a lot of light.

  16. These churches although beautiful are now obsolete in several ways. Theatre style seating is missing. Can you imagine sitting in the back of this church. I really like this interior photo.
