The first day of the month is a theme day for members of City Daily Photo. For June, the theme is Stylish, a theme that was well chosen by Grace at Perth Daily Photo. You can see how others are taking on that theme here.
I'm starting with a more conventional example of stylish. There are a number of fashion boutiques on Sussex around the Byward Market area. The one that struck me as the best suited for this theme was a front window at the store Cantas. The store specializes in European tailoring, and stocks formal, casual, evening, and wedding attire for women. Their home page can be found here. It is photographed from an angle to avoid getting that disreputable scoundrel with a camera in the shot, but lo and behold, there I am intruding at stage left.
Now for the unconventionally stylish. I have been featuring our Tulip Festival since the middle of May, and will be continuing to do so for a few more days. These two sculptures were part of the festival, but I think they fit the theme in a very off kilter way.
A few days ago I showed a series of photographs of buskers in this same area, at Dow's Lake, on Victoria Day, as part of the festival. I thought the ladies were quite stylish (not to mention very flexible). I had extra shots, and decided to use them for this post.
I really like this series! :)
ReplyDeleteThese two sculptures show a scene of joy to enter the month.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
Great choices for the theme day. Love the ones made with flowers especially. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the theme, William!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to find something stylish for my post, alas, in vain so far. ;-)
Love the transition through your photos - 2nd shot especially - made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThree different scenes, all very nice and fitting to the theme, well done, William !
ReplyDeleteYou found some stylish figures around. Those green people with tulips are very funny.
ReplyDeleteSome variously stylish interpretations of this theme day, my favorites are probably the green sculptures!
ReplyDeleteThose are pretty stylish photos! I especially love those two sculptures with flowers.
ReplyDeleteI may have not noticed you in the first photo if you didn't mention. But I see you! Reminded me of "where's Wally?" game :-)
Easy to locate 'style' in wedding gown shop windows. Can't miss there. Bullseye!
ReplyDeleteYou've chose three nice and quite different stylish scenes.
ReplyDeleteNice comparison and contrast.
ReplyDeleteI think you take top prize for the theme day post! Stylish all the way!

@Red: art has a way of doing that.
@Gill: thank you!
@Tanya: thanks!
Except for some very avant garde brides, most wedding gowns remain stylishly conservative and traditional. Good choice.
ReplyDeleteI like your unconventionnaly stylish green sculptures :)
ReplyDeleteGreat sculptures today. I have enjoyed your Tulip tour from beginning of May.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Everything was magnificent. It takes time to show and tell so thank you twice. You deserve it. Will be a delight to see your continued pictures next.

ReplyDeleteNice choice of theme day images.
ReplyDeleteLove the stylish topiaries most of all!
