These flowers can be found in Dundonald Park in the city's core, blooming quite nicely at the moment.
Up on Parliament Hill, I stopped a couple of times to get shots of blossoming trees along the walkway going around the buildings. This first shot looks out towards Major's Hill Park, the Rideau Canal down below. The American embassy is on the left and the Connaught Building is on the right in the background.
I snapped a couple of shots from a little further up on a day with less haze, looking towards the National Gallery and Notre Dame Basilica. I couldn't decide which one I liked more, so here are both of them.
This is my favourite series of flowers so far, William! :)
ReplyDeleteSo much green and so many beautiful flowers... Also love the view in the last two shots!
ReplyDeleteThe last two pictures are very beautiful !.

The last two photos are really beautiful! I'm loving the sweetly scented air everywhere with all the blossoms coming on.
ReplyDeleteThat last picture is my favorite with the buildings in the background above all the lilacs. I can almost smell them from the other side of the screen.
ReplyDeleteI can see your conundrum. Wonderful shots all, though.
ReplyDeletelove the lilacs!!
ReplyDeleteOn they ARE lilacs.. I thought so but wasn't 100% sure, bet the perfume was wonderful William.
ReplyDeleteNice way to show off the buildings with roses and lilacs.
ReplyDelete@Linda: I was pleased by how they turned out.
ReplyDelete@VP: it's a great view up there- though perhaps not at the moment; word is there's a very territorial redwing blackbird harassing anyone passing too close to his nest.
@Tomas: thanks!
@Lauren: thank you!
@Orvokki: thanks!
@Marleen: I was pleased to go back an extra day and get those two shots. A very different sky from the first one done on the Hill.
@Jan: thank you!
@Tamera: I've had no shortage of opportunities.
@Marianne: they certainly are.
@Revrunner: good!
@Hilary: thank you.
ReplyDelete@Karl: I've been experimenting a bit with the camera where closeups are concerned, and they worked out well with the roses.
@Stuart: they do!
@Janis: I've always enjoyed the views out from the Hill.
@Pamela: lilacs especially have that strong smell.
@Linda: this year the lilacs on the Hill really came out nicely.
@Mike: thank you!
@Tex: me too.
@Grace: and I wasn't quite sure with the roses. I can be terrible at identifying flowers.
@Red: I thought so!
These are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLovely, but I miss the tulips!
ReplyDeleteAll so beautiful, William!

ReplyDelete@Luis: thanks!
ReplyDelete@Cheryl: so do I.
@RedPat: thank you.
@Tamago; it's a wonderful spot. I have no idea how accessible it'll be while work is done on the Hill over the coming years.
@Sharon: so do I!
Wild roses? I knew they looked different.
ReplyDeleteFor a country that's cold most of the year, Canada certainly has beautiful flowers!
The last two shots with the lilacs are so pretty! Must smell heavenly too!
ReplyDeletei need smell-o-vision ... i bet they have a nice scent. pretty!! ( :
ReplyDeleteThose purple and white flowers add a charming border to the city view.

ReplyDelete@Ciel: it does!
@MB: they certainly do.
@Gemma: I certainly thought so!
@Lowell: that would have worked too.
Beautiful! Now if there were only a way to add the lilac scent, life would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteA lot of beautiful flowers up there, William.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely! Nice to see that you have other beautiful flowers in addition to tulips. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're fully two months behind us in spring. Our lilacs are gone now and our roses are further along. All your shots are beautiful!
