I have switched out my header as of yesterday for a more fall-like image, taken last year on the grounds at Rideau Hall. And on this date in 2013, Ottawa Daily Photo saw its first post, so today marks the start of Year Five for this blog.
Picking up where I left off yesterday, these are two hospitals southeast of the city core, in the Gloucester area, off Smyth Road. The Children's Hospital Of Eastern Ontario is on the left, while the Ottawa Hospital's General Campus is in the background on the right. The air ambulance helipad is between them.
South of the hospital, a bike path winds its way through a corridor consisting of wetlands, brush, a hydro line, and gardens tended by local residents in the shadow of the hydro towers.
Well, that is not only a wonderful area health-wise, but I would love to ride that bike path. Love your new header, too, and congrats on five great years with CDP!
ReplyDeleteHappy blogaversary! The new header is great but I don't think I'm ready for autumn yet!
ReplyDeleteGostei deste belo trabalho fotográfico.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

...congratulations William, you started a bit before me. Enjoy fall.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary, William! It's a great blog and I don't know how you manage to post every day. Thought of you yesterday, when watching the news coverage of TM's visit; I'm sure she felt very special.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: it was a pleasant path that day.
ReplyDelete@Kay: it doesn't quite feel like fall yet!
@Francisco: thank you.
@Marianne: thanks!
@Janis: several of our hospitals have these helipads.
@Tom: I have thus far managed to not miss a day.
@Mike: I did see footage of our two PMs meeting yesterday, and there have been Union Jacks hanging downtown on the weekend.
A very nice area and love the new header. Leaves are starting to fall around here.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful bike path. Congratulations on 5 years of blogging!
ReplyDeleteI love the new header!
ReplyDeleteTwo hospitals are better than one ☺ Super new autumn header shot William and HUGE congratulations on five fabulous years 🎈🎉🎇🎊
ReplyDeleteAwesome trial, but there's nobody on it! I like the new header!
ReplyDelete@Denise: I expect peak season for the leaves here will be around our Thanksgiving.
ReplyDelete@Marleen: and still haven't missed a day. I've scheduled incorrectly once or twice and posted late though!
@Norma: it was one of four choices, but this one looked good when I tried it first, so I decided to run with it.
@Grace: thank you!
@Red: I passed by a handful of people that day. It was quiet.
Happy Five Year Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI always feel a bit sad at the fact that such big children's hospitals are needed. We have a huge one here. It's so sad to think that there are so many sick children in the world. I love the trails.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogoversary! I love the autumn header and great photos from this post. The bike path looks very pleasant!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful header and happy anniversary to you and your blog!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you, William. Beautiful series!
ReplyDeletehappy blogiversary to you! love the header and those are some pretty pathways!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 5th blogoversary! Nice header too!
ReplyDeleteInterestingCoincidentally, one of our D.C. hospitals is suddenly taking some heat for wanting to install a helipad.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the big 5th blog anniversary and your header is fabulous!
ReplyDelete@Maywyn: it's been quite a long path!
ReplyDelete@Sharon: CHEO, as it's usually called, has an exceptionally good reputation. So does the General.
@Tamago: It's a peaceful place for a stroll, I think.
@Lois: thank you!
@Linda: thanks!
@Tanya: that one felt quite appropriate for autumn.
@RedPat: I won't be running out of photo subjects anytime soon.
@Revrunner: we've had helipads at some of the hospitals for quite awhile. The current helicopter program in Ontario had some bad publicity some years back- more because the guy who was running it at the time was, shall we say, a mentally unstable loon with issues in more than one way.
@Bill: thank you!
Beautiful header, but I would rather summer linger.
ReplyDeleteI like your new header, beautiful colours! Happy 5th anniversary! That is a great bike path.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views. And your new header is just wonderful, full autumn.
ReplyDeleteWe're frequent flyers to this area! Every 3 mos., for injections, at this point. sigh.
ReplyDeleteSecond picture is my favourite. Beautiful colours.
ReplyDelete@Mari: we had a weird end to summer and a strange beginning to fall!
ReplyDelete@Nancy: thank you!
@Orvokki: thanks!
@Jennifer: you're more familiar with the General than I am. I've been inside on rare occasions.
@Klara: thanks!
