This is St. Timothy's Presbyterian Church. This can be found in the Gloucester area along Alta Vista Drive. The steep roof reminds me very much of another Presbyterian church my maternal grandparents attended in Guelph.
This, meanwhile, is St. Peter's Lutheran Church taken at night. I've featured the church before during Doors Open events. It's downtown, one of two churches occupying Cathedral Hill.
Beautiful churches, William! I hope you get to photograph the Church of Christ at 1515 Chomley Crescent one day, I would love to see it. I went there decades ago. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo very different styles of churches...you might say night and day.
ReplyDeleteGostei de ver estas fotografias.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

They couldn't be more different William. I love that Presbyterian churches are so down to earth, they are there to do a job and don't need the adornments!
ReplyDeleteDifferent, but on the other hand, they both have that A-frame, pointed roof.

...the older one is my favorite.
ReplyDelete@Linda: I will keep it in mind.
ReplyDelete@Kay: indeed!
@Francisco: thanks!
@Grace: this one certainly isn't over the top.
@Janis: true!
@Tom: its style suits me.
Hello, the last one is my favorite. Happy Monday, enjoy your day and new week!
ReplyDeleteBoth very beautiful structures with definite styles.
ReplyDeleteThat steep roof should be good when the snow comes.
ReplyDeleteBoth churches are very attractive. I wonder if I know the pastor of the Lutheran Church.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful churches. I really like the night shots.
ReplyDeleteStrong statements
ReplyDelete@Eileen: thanks!
ReplyDelete@Red: they certainly are.
@Sharon: I would think so!
@Lowell: that would be a small world.
@Lois: thank you.
@Cloudia: definitely!
I love your church photos!
ReplyDeleteI love that steep roof. Great veiw in the 2nd photo! I love the night time photos, too!
ReplyDeleteThe church in your first photos is surprising. It looks very big too.
ReplyDeleteThat second shot reminds me of a pyramid. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your night shots!
ReplyDelete@Norma: thanks!
ReplyDelete@Tamago: I suspect it's a design that might date back to the 50s.
@Marleen: probably the roof is what gives it quite a big size. I get the feeling St. Timothy's probably occupies the same, or slightly bigger, area as St. Peter's.
@Revrunner: it does to me too.
@RedPat: thank you. I took the night shots while coming back from the finale of La Machine.
Nice night shots of the church. Like the huge wooden door in the shadows.
ReplyDeleteWendy
Beautiful churches, I do prefer the older one. Your night photos are fantastic, I like the look in the first night shot.
ReplyDeletemy butt has been on plenty of picnic tables lately ...camping and all just wish they were a bit more comfortable ... i can only sit down for a while... i am not with much rumpness there. ha. ha!! walking is must nicer. ( ;
ReplyDeleteLove the night shots. Of course, I'll favor the Lutheran one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful night shots William! I too love the older one best!
ReplyDeleteI am an unbeliever, as is my wife. But we both get awestruck visiting churches. All praise to the great Buddha for allowing them. (ICYDGI, that's a joke.)
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful churches even though the buildings look so different.
ReplyDelete@Wendy: thank you!
ReplyDelete@Bill: I did too.
@Beth: it is.
@Mari: of course!
@Tanya: thank you!
@Catalyst: hah!
@Nancy: they are quite different from each other.
I like your night shots very much.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
