A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme day for September 1st is Teach.
A Canadian pair of acrobats make up Street Circus. Dan and Kim Craig are a married couple who employ hoops, contortions, handstands, juggling, and comedy throughout their act. I photographed them during two different performances among the numerous ones they did together over Buskerfest. Here she was doing tricks with a hoop- spinning it on a foot while crawling or walking on her hands.
Then more hoops started to enter the picture.
I found them heading towards the end of another performance at another of the staging areas. She was on top of his shoulders, and he was just getting started juggling knives.
With the juggling done, the pair capped off their act by firing off confetti.
If they are a couple, I certainly hope it remains a happy marriage!

ReplyDeleteIt was hard enough to manage one hoop as I recall!
ReplyDeleteHello, wonderful captures of the acrobats. I have never seen a street circus here. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDelete@Catalyst: they seem to work well together!
ReplyDelete@Nancy: this one was.
@Janis: thanks!
@Beth: yes, they still stay open. It's occurred to me that I've been giving some of them free advertising!
@Marie: I couldn't do it.
@Eileen: it was fun!
...she takes hula-hoops to a whole new level.
ReplyDeleteThat is a LOT of hula hoops on just one person, all going at once. Neat pictures, William! :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing talent. The shoulder stand calls for so many abilities.
ReplyDeleteThat hoop thing reminds me of the Native American hoop dances!
ReplyDeleteMy hula hoop days are way way behind me. Excellent shots
ReplyDeleteMB
@Tom: she does!
ReplyDelete@DJan: thanks!
@Red: among other things, balance!
@Sharon: I can see that.
@MB: I'd be out of my depth trying even one.
You really had a fun summer without leaving the city!!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful!! Nothing like that happens in this part of town. Not that I am aware of.
I wonder what happens to these people when they get old? Were there any older performers?
ReplyDeleteAnother great entertainment.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun for everyone. The acrobats are pretty incredible to see.
ReplyDeleteSo good, and great to see the crowd loving it too.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
@Catarina: I suspect the closest one to you would be the Toronto busker festival, which I think is on the Labour Day weekend.
ReplyDelete@RedPat: well, an act like Jaardu can keep going, since he doesn't do acrobatics. According to the brochures that were available during Buskerfest, Checkerboard Guy has been doing this since 1981.
@Klara: it really is!
@Bill: they are!
@Jan: they got into it.
Great photos! Hoop dancing is mind boggling.
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteI think I am glad my kids all have desk jobs!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a weird way to make a living!
DeleteTalented couple and great captures ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,
