The Street Circus

A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme day for September 1st is Teach.

A Canadian pair of acrobats make up Street Circus. Dan and Kim Craig are a married couple who employ hoops, contortions, handstands, juggling, and comedy throughout their act. I photographed them during two different performances among the numerous ones they did together over Buskerfest. Here she was doing tricks with a hoop- spinning it on a foot while crawling or walking on her hands.

Then more hoops started to enter the picture.

I found them heading towards the end of another performance at another of the staging areas. She was on top of his shoulders, and he was just getting started juggling knives.

With the juggling done, the pair capped off their act by firing off confetti.

  8. That is a LOT of hula hoops on just one person, all going at once. Neat pictures, William! :-)

  14. I wonder what happens to these people when they get old? Were there any older performers?

  17. @Catarina: I suspect the closest one to you would be the Toronto busker festival, which I think is on the Labour Day weekend.

    @RedPat: well, an act like Jaardu can keep going, since he doesn't do acrobatics. According to the brochures that were available during Buskerfest, Checkerboard Guy has been doing this since 1981.

    @Klara: it really is!

    @Bill: they are!

    @Jan: they got into it.
