Science And Technology

The Canada Museum Of Science And Technology lies out in the Gloucester area southeast of the core. It is the only one of the seven national museums in the national capital area that I had never been to. In August I went, to take in a temporary exhibit before it closed, but also to see what the museum was like. The grounds include a lighthouse, which originally stood at Cape Race in Newfoundland.

It also includes this steam engine. There are more of these inside.

I kept going past this large satellite dish.

The museum itself is directly ahead, while the taller structure at left is a storage facility for the collection.

Around the main entrance are screens with constantly changing images.

And so the path took me to the entrance, where the subject of the temporary exhibit was right on the doors.

  1. The lighthouse reminds me of the tower of Pisa!
    We have an old steam engine at our train station and my Hubby even witnessed them "live" as a kid!
    I sure like the architecture of the museum.

  16. @Barbara: I'll have to hashtag it from my Facebook Ottawa Daily Photo page. I can't tweet anymore, as Twitter seems to think that refusing to lift a lock that was only supposed to last twelve hours but has lasted all summer is acceptable.

    @Nancy: they both stand out.

    @Red: me too.

    @Marleen: I agree.

    @Sharon: it was quite an exhibit to take in.
