Today I conclude this look at Woodlawn Cemetery in Guelph.
There are tombstones done in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission style, most of them gathered together in a single area. Some of these are veterans, while others are people who died in action more recently and were returned home.
Quite often in older cemeteries like this, a child angel or a lamb on a tombstone will designate the grave of a child. Such is the case with these.
One wider view from here.
A couple of days later we'd had snow. I was passing by the cemetery and took this shot. Tomorrow I'll take you elsewhere in Guelph.
Somber winter walks that strangely make us fee better, brooding...

ReplyDeleteAs we are born and die, thee reminders of life and death are but markers of the lifetimes, the loves, the pains that people go through.
ReplyDeleteThey don't do large stones like this much anymore, probably because of the cost. It is good to be remembered.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about cemeteries in the snow. The little lamb markers always get to me.

I can see that, but a century ago there were more deaths of children.
