City Daily Photo Theme Day: Covid-19 Response

The theme for members of City Daily Photo is Covid-19 Response and how we're dealing with it. You can see how others are interpreting the theme right here.

This is a fairly common sign at present at many stores and building entrances in Ottawa, in English or in French.

While this one is at one of the comic book shops I frequent.

This gargoyle is inside, properly fitted out for the current times.

Masks are pretty much mandatory in this, the Age of Coronavirus, especially indoors. My head's too big for the standard medical and cloth masks- the loops tug at my ears. But I've got plenty of bandannas, and am primarily using three of them. I took these shots on my couch at home.

I look like a bank robber.

And I walk into banks looking like this, and no one bats an eye about it.

At present social distancing is the norm. Some places have line-ups, and others do not. Restaurant patios are set up for social distancing, but I haven't dined in at a restaurant since Pancake Tuesday (guess for what?). I've done take out since the restrictions started (and once the restaurants started doing take out). I haven't seen any family since the beginning of the year, and that'll probably extend into the next year. But it's just something we've all got to get on with so we can get past it.

In closing, I'll leave you with some humour for the occasion.

  2. I prefer to take this situation with humour ! The pictures with the rules are really funny ! BTW we have the same rules. We all look like bank robbers I think to rob a bank you have to take your mask off !

  4. Hello,

    Loved all the photos, I do not have a problem wearing the mask. Be like Dark Vader, sounds like hubby and I. Take care, have a great day!

  5. You did make me laugh with your 'humour for the occasion' 😁 you do look a wee bit suspiciously like a bank robber 😉

  6. OK. I go rob a bank now. No will go after me. My glasses will fog up and I´m invisible. (We need to keep laughing).

  7. I am visiting mostly locations where there aren't a lot of people, so a mask isn't necessary. This morning I used one for the first time, because I had to visit a busy place.

  8. The social distancing seems to have disappeared here.

  10. Masks are required in every store here. You walking into the bank masked up made me smile! :)

  11. It is another sign of these times, how many posts this week have had the pandemic as part of their theme. Sad. But deep down, we know until it's gone (vaccine anyone?) it will be the underlying theme of our daily lives. I am also sad to hear of surges these days, as a result of people not using precautions mainly. There are so many dead. How ugly. How sad. No wonder it permeates our lives.

  12. Who would have ever thought that we'd be buying masks (or bandanas) to keep us safe? It's become habit to have one -- I always have one with me and unless I'm home or alone in the car, it is on. I haven't been to a restaurant in ages and only had takeout for the first time last week. I think we're still in for a long haul.

  13. It's a whole new normal. I like your look. We are getting off pretty easy, here in our wetland. The kids visit now and then. They are homeschooling and working from home.

  14. @David: yes, as frustrating as it can be.

    @Gattina: that's true!

    @Anita: I'm more of a Vader. The David Prowse one, not the whiny brat from the prequels.

    @Eileen: thank you!

    @Anvilcloud: quite so.

    @Grace: and proud of it.

    @Iris: that's a problem I find with the sunglasses.

    @Francisco: thank you!

  15. @Jan: I tend to pull them up around my lower face when I go inside, but outside I've got them down below the chin.

    @Red: definitely not here.

    @Sharon: you're welcome.

    @Tom: it is, yes.

    @Happyone: it's a standard look for me now.

    @Barbara: I agree.

    @Jeanie: when I'm home, it goes off.

    @Jennifer: if I'm out and about, I've got it on.

  16. We had started going to the local pub when the huge windows were open but won't be going again for a while until the numbers go down again. Haven't had a visitor since March. Sad times.

  17. Masked are advised here since yesterday, they are not mandatory. Not yet anyway.

  19. The humor is appreciated, your memes put a smile on my face ... we also wear mask when we cannot physically distance ... we have gone with cooper infused mask

  20. Haha, yes we all look like bank robbers these days!

  21. A cross between Darth Vader and a bank robber, loved the humour you have with this post.
    Here in Western Australia I rarely see anyone with a mask, and social distancing is not really happening either. We have had it very different to many other parts of the world, pays to live in the most isolated city on the planet I guess.
    Hopefully you will get back to some level of normality soon.

    @RedPat: they are.

    @Marleen: here they're required.

    @Luis: thank you!

    @Denton: thanks!

    @Jenny: we do.

    @Gemel: hopefully, but I expect we won't see a vaccine until spring.

    @Bill: you're welcome.

    @Revrunner: it does.

    @Joanne: hah!

    @Magiceye: yes, but for how long?

    @Linda: thanks!

    @Melanie: me too.

  26. YOu do look a little Darth Vader-ish in some of those pictures! :-)

  27. Thanks for sharing your masks, William, but the humor at the end really cheered my day. Sadly, we have similar signs and others most places here and wearing a mask in public spaces is mandatory. We also have not seen close family and friends in different states since last December (sigh). And yes we all look like bank robbers now!

  30. I've seen a few men wearing masks who have made me shudder but you seem to carry it off OK. Except for that last shot = coming face to face with that might scare me a bit. But then I don't get out much. lol
