Carrying on where I left off, here we have a drum.
These two items are from the same tribe, the Kwakwaka'wakw. The drum at left dates from 2010, by Rande Cook, and is titled Summer. The mask dates to 1974, and was made by Dora Cook.
Displayed nearby is this house post, dating sometime before 1923. The practice has returned in recent years, with tribal council buildings often incorporating them inside.
Behind glass are more artifacts.
Most of what's in this display case is actually more contemporary, but done in traditional styles.
Now this is something I really would love to see.
