Histories Between And Through Time is a 2017 acrylic painting by the Mi'kmaq artist Jordan Bennett.
Inuit artist Jessie Oonark created When The Days Are Long And The Sun Shines Into The Night from 1968-69.
Stepping out of this gallery space and into the nearby courtyard, we find a garden.
In the garden one can hear music coming from an adjoining space. I followed the music to the Rideau Chapel. Once a convent chapel, it has been restored here as part of an initiative of various government levels, community heritage groups, and the Gallery. It also houses a sound sculpture- The Forty Part Motet, by Janet Cardiff, a reworking of a 16th century composition for a forty member choir.
Here's the chapel. Speakers are strategically placed around as part of the sound sculpture.
Old religious sculptures complete the effect, with angels on one side of the chapel and saints on the other.
The Chapel has interesting interiors. Especially the ceiling.
