Creative Works

Another example of public art at Winterlude, and an expensive one to make- this is Alouette, by Brandon Vickerd, featuring a car damaged by a fallen satellite- a reproduction of the early Canadian satellite of that name.

I wonder what this fellow made of it all.

We carry on with more of the ice sculptures. This one features Sedna, an Inuit goddess of sealife.

The path led me on. This sculpture is by a Newfoundland and Labrador team, and is called Sunset Dreams.

  1. I like the one of Sedna. Hopefully that car was already damaged and that's what gave the sculptor the idea.

    1. Hopefully! It'd be a lot less expensive to have picked up something from a wrecking yard.

  7. El pájaro está muy bien conseguido. Es una buena obra, de las muchas, que he contemplado en tus buena publicaciones.

  8. Remembering Alouette, and I am also reminded of Sedna. Heather Dale has a song about Sedna.

  13. So I wonder if Sedna was done by Inuit carvers?

    1. Likely. I know a couple of carvers had an indigenous look to them.

I'm puzzled by the car myself. Kind of neat in a way

  17. You love that witty satellite art!
Dogs usually get it right eventually. That guy's happy to be with the people. That hummingbird is just amazing. That long beak is shaking its fist at the weather

    1. I believe, as it's an Arctic themed work, that it's a narwhal.
