The Bellows Of Outrage Or Blessed Relief?

Here we are. Last day of August. Days are getting shorter. Fall colours are starting to show themselves. It won't be long til we see such lovely sights as these.

The top shot is the street close by my place. The bottom is from the library at Carleton, overlooking the Canal on the other side of the treeline.

I couldn't resist. Incidentally, I can practically hear a number of people howling my name in outrage when they see this; no doubt they'll be contemplating sending Fluffy Destroyer of Worlds after me.

  2. Regret that I shall not see such loveliness; and yet a relief that I shall not see, feel, slip, fall, curse in such loveliness! [I vaguely remember scraping hard ice from my windscreen before dawn in order to drive to work on glazed roads. . . . good times!

  9. No snow and ice for me at the moment, William, we are heading for a nice and warm week. I hope for some Indian summer in which we can feel some sun on our skin again after all the rain we've had recently.

  10. Well I wouldn't be surprised if we get snow next week considering the temps that have been forecasted. I'm ready for autumn but the thing is, we haven't had spring or summer...

  11. I don't mind seeing pictures like that when it's so very hot out. It's funny how just looking at snow can make you feel cooler.

  12. I think you might be the only person I can think of who actually looks forward to being buried in snow.

  13. No howling here but you can keep your snow. Wonderful photo ops. We don't get much snow so when we do we revel in it until it turns to slush and mush which it does here because it doesn't freeze. Oh well!!

  15. @Revrunner: I couldn't help it!

    @Cloudia: around your parts, the only snow that falls is on the volcano tops.

    @Andy: I saw some fall colours already a couple of days ago.

    @VP: if I could. I'd send Fluffy after a certain idiot ex-brother-in-law of mine.

    @Zosia: I do look forward to fhe fall colours, but I'm anticipating winter even more!

    @Tomas: we do get a proper winter here.

    @Gunn: I'm looking forward to some cross country skiing.

    @Jane and Chris: I thought you'd say that!

  16. @Hilary: I anticipated that might be possible!

    @Jan: we've had our share of rain too... it hasn't been a dry summer.

    @Tex: I thought some people might enjoy it if they were dealing with heat waves.

    @Birdman: Hah!

    @Ciel: we have yet to see a real heatwave.

    @Judy: it does have that effect.

    @Sharon: with great pleasure too!

    @MB: our snow here pretty much stays through the winter.

    @Linda: thank you!

  23. @Whisk: I'm waiting for the mighty Snow Demons to rise again.

    @Jack: but winter's a good thing!

    @Norma: I'm in so much trouble!

    @Bill: ah but I love it!

    @Shelly: snow in Florida would be problematic.

    @Denise: I can't recall the first time I saw Fluffy, but that face is just perfect.

    @Cheryl: I hope we get lots!
