Here we are. Last day of August. Days are getting shorter. Fall colours are starting to show themselves. It won't be long til we see such lovely sights as these.
The top shot is the street close by my place. The bottom is from the library at Carleton, overlooking the Canal on the other side of the treeline.
I couldn't resist. Incidentally, I can practically hear a number of people howling my name in outrage when they see this; no doubt they'll be contemplating sending Fluffy Destroyer of Worlds after me.
You had me there for a moment, William.
ReplyDeleteRegret that I shall not see such loveliness; and yet a relief that I shall not see, feel, slip, fall, curse in such loveliness! [I vaguely remember scraping hard ice from my windscreen before dawn in order to drive to work on glazed roads. . . . good times!

William there is still a couple of great months ahead. The fall colours will be out soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is very interesting: can you really send Fluffy after someone?
ReplyDeleteOh no! Not yet, please! There are still beautiful colours of autumn to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe snow comes early to Canada, to Spain takes longer.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
ENJOY the autumn first, before you put your skis on:)
ReplyDelete*shouting* WILLIAM!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJane x
don't be mad at me but I kind of hate you for these pictures…
ReplyDeleteNo snow and ice for me at the moment, William, we are heading for a nice and warm week. I hope for some Indian summer in which we can feel some sun on our skin again after all the rain we've had recently.
ReplyDeletenice cool-down for me! :)
ReplyDelete%^$* you!
ReplyDeleteWell I wouldn't be surprised if we get snow next week considering the temps that have been forecasted. I'm ready for autumn but the thing is, we haven't had spring or summer...
ReplyDeleteI don't mind seeing pictures like that when it's so very hot out. It's funny how just looking at snow can make you feel cooler.
ReplyDeleteI think you might be the only person I can think of who actually looks forward to being buried in snow.
ReplyDeleteNo howling here but you can keep your snow. Wonderful photo ops. We don't get much snow so when we do we revel in it until it turns to slush and mush which it does here because it doesn't freeze. Oh well!!

I do love the autumn and winter, and I love these snow scenes!
ReplyDelete@Revrunner: I couldn't help it!
ReplyDelete@Cloudia: around your parts, the only snow that falls is on the volcano tops.
@Andy: I saw some fall colours already a couple of days ago.
@VP: if I could. I'd send Fluffy after a certain idiot ex-brother-in-law of mine.
@Zosia: I do look forward to fhe fall colours, but I'm anticipating winter even more!
@Tomas: we do get a proper winter here.
@Gunn: I'm looking forward to some cross country skiing.
@Jane and Chris: I thought you'd say that!
@Hilary: I anticipated that might be possible!
ReplyDelete@Jan: we've had our share of rain too... it hasn't been a dry summer.
@Tex: I thought some people might enjoy it if they were dealing with heat waves.
@Birdman: Hah!
@Ciel: we have yet to see a real heatwave.
@Judy: it does have that effect.
@Sharon: with great pleasure too!
@MB: our snow here pretty much stays through the winter.
@Linda: thank you!
I love it. Great photos, and I'm ready.
ReplyDeleteOh, go away!!!
ReplyDeleteI just spoke with Fluffy. He offered to do you for free.
ReplyDeletewinter can be pleasant and peaceful then again it can be a pain in the butt :)
ReplyDeleteSnow will come. But not in Florida.
ReplyDeleteI clicked on the fluffy link and laughed out loud. Thanks for that William, I have seen this little darling before but never get tired of that sweet, funny little face. Love the snow photos but I am looking forward to Autumn first :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pix...so long as the snow stays up in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDelete@Whisk: I'm waiting for the mighty Snow Demons to rise again.
ReplyDelete@Jack: but winter's a good thing!
@Norma: I'm in so much trouble!
@Bill: ah but I love it!
@Shelly: snow in Florida would be problematic.
@Denise: I can't recall the first time I saw Fluffy, but that face is just perfect.
@Cheryl: I hope we get lots!
I don't want to think about it! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWinter rules!
Deletethanks for visiting my blog :)
ReplyDeleteIve never been in snow like that. Stay warm :)
You're welcome!
DeleteAaack! Aren't you rushing things a bit. We are still in the high 90s so these pictures seem pretty far fetched.
ReplyDeleteI love winter!
DeleteYou love that snow, don't you!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
DeleteI don't need to reminded of this yet!!! Can't we see some pretty fall trees first? ;-)
ReplyDeleteAh, winter can't come soon enough.
DeleteTo my surprise, the beach is as crowded today as it was in August. I was so disappointed I came back home.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a beach person.
DeleteYou won't hear me complaining William, j'adore your winter scenes!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI adore the changing season. I'm grateful not to be doing yard duty in -40 any more.
ReplyDeleteGood point.
