The main Ottawa Farmer's Market runs through the year at Lansdowne Park, with a couple of weekends off around Christmas before picking it up again in January. During the winter months, it's held inside Aberdeen Pavilion. Over the last three weekends, it's been a busy place as the Christmas farmer market weekends have been going on. I've been in at least once every weekend. Aside from the farmers, almost all of whom are local, and all of whom sell what they grow, there are also artisans present, as well as the horse drawn wagon, music, and lots of dogs. I have more from here tomorrow.
I love the horses and dogs, and your first photo really drew me in!ReplyDelete
I would love love love to go here.ReplyDelete
The markets look like an intriguing place to wander. And so good that furry friends abound there too. Love the horses and the cute little one in the last two photos.ReplyDelete
Um belo e grande mercado.ReplyDelete
Um Santo e Feliz Natal.
Sweet doggies with their warm caots on.ReplyDelete
The markets look like fun, but unfortunately I would most likely overspend there.ReplyDelete
This place has my vote. What great fun. And you can bring your dog!ReplyDelete

I would enjoy the Christmas market. I love the dogs and horses and so many things to see.ReplyDelete
Looks quite nice at the market, but most of all I like that horse drawn wagon.ReplyDelete
Looks like an intriguing spot for retail therapy. But I am reminded of the Christmas market in Berlin; these devils could strike anywhere. Moving on from that unfortunate note, William, I want to wish you the best of Christmases and a wonderful year ahead.ReplyDelete
I love it when people bring their dogs.ReplyDelete
They've got lots of action in their farmer's market.ReplyDelete
Great space! (steam punk) great smells, great sights!ReplyDelete
Um bonito espaço.ReplyDelete
Love the idea of a Christmas market! So beautiful, William.ReplyDelete
@Whisk: it's fun to attend.
@Gemma: that little dog was such a sweetie.
@Francisco: thank you!
@Marianne: they're well dressed for an Ottawa winter.
@Beatrice: I am able to restrain myself, but I always buy from one vendor here through the year. The ninth shot, that vendor sells among other things, great blueberry tarts.
@Lowell: the dogs certainly wag their tails when they're in here.
@Hilary: they are.
@Nancy: so do I.
@Jan: and those are big horses.
@Mike: that thought has crossed my mind in the last couple of days.
@Sharon: so do I.
@Red: it's a busy place.
@Cloudia: thank you!
@Janis: this one gets a lot of people to attend.
Looks like an enjoyable time can be spent there. Even the dogs are welcomed to browse in search of a festive treat. :)ReplyDelete
I like to visit markets like these.ReplyDelete
That looks like a huge market. How nice doggies can shop there, too :-)ReplyDelete
Glad they let the dogs in!ReplyDelete
I didn't realize that! Ours goes year round, too!ReplyDelete
What a beautiful building, the inside is outstanding. Wish I could be there.ReplyDelete
The dogs are so sweet. How cold was it and how do the horses stay warm ?
I always worry about the horses.
I visited our tiny outdoor Farmer's Market this week but haven't blogged about it yet. The dogs seem to be enjoying yours. Merry Christmas, William.ReplyDelete
A busy place, and the last dog was a cutie.ReplyDelete
This reminds me of our farmers market here.ReplyDelete
@Bill: and some of the vendors do have dog treats handy!ReplyDelete
@Marleen: as do I.
@RedPat: it's a very good thing.
@Jennifer: it's a good deal more quiet over the winter though. Peak season is October.
@Parsnip: it hasn't been overly cold. Below freezing, but not deep cold.
@Catalyst: thank you!
@Mari: very cute!
@Norma: this one is quite active.
It looks like it's well worth visiting and the space is well suited for it. Dogs aren't universally welcomed here where food is served or sold.ReplyDelete
A busy place this time !ReplyDelete
