Snow In Day Or Night

On the same day as my previous posts, I walked past the Chateau Laurier in the evening and photographed it from Plaza Bridge. It was named after the prime minister and opened in 1912.

My walk home that evening took me past Lansdowne Park, and the snow falling among the stadium lights caught my attention.

These scenes are in Little Italy the day after, outside a government complex.

Nearby, this view takes in what's pretty much the last visible trace of the same cliff that Parliament Hill is on. South of here, the rocks disappear beneath the soil.

  1. Wow. The winter snow is falling fast in your winter world. So very pretty. And adore the scene in your new header. Quite dramatic.

  5. Great shots of the snow fall in the lights of the stadium.
    Nice to see winter scenes, overhere it's just grey and much too warm for snow and ice.

  9. so cool in the darkness with all the lights. i wonder what folks think of it though, if you live around there, it might be kind of blinding or distracting. ( ;

  10. I love those shots of the snow falling with the lights. It sort of brought back memories of growing up in Illinois. I'd see scenes like that all winter long.

  11. You're showing some very good contrasts by using day and night shots. Lots of history in the Laurier building.

  13. @Janis: especially today with snow continuing to fall.

    @Nancy: and it's been even colder. The Canal is starting to freeze, though I certainly wouldn't walk on it yet.

    @Beth: snow blindness can happen.

    @Sharon: and we've been having quite a bit of it since then. What fell on that particular day melted, but it's been replaced since.

    @Red: yes, and I was inside last evening for some photography.

    @Lowell: it certainly has!

  14. Winter has arrived just when it supposed to. It does look rather cold and pretty soon the canal will be filled with skaters.

  19. @Linda: and it's very fitting that today it's snowing again.

    @Bill: the freezing cycle of the Canal is well underway. Now it's just a question as to when it opens up.

    @Mari: but snow is a good thing!

    @RedPat: and no doubt the weather forecasters there have gone into apocalypse mode.

    @Janey: it's the best season of the year.

    @Cloudia: I could have used some of these for a theme day next year on black and white shots in colour.

    @Jenny: I love the snow.

    @Norma: cross your fingers!

  23. All but the first would work nicely for next March's "black and white in color" theme.
