I am returning for a couple of posts to Miwate, the event that was held here from early October into early November at the Chaudiere Falls on the Ottawa River. The approach to the light show stopped first at a series of panels on the Algonquin people in particular and the First Nations of Canada in general. This colourful panel was repeated on the displays; it is by the artist Whitney Whiteduck.
The walkway approaching the viewing platform was lit up, the lights along the base moving along, while those on the trees gradually shifted colours. Mist drifted along the walkway in places. Have a look at this video I did for the approach.
Here we have a look at the viewing platform as we approach, with the Gatineau skyline beyond. The platform was installed on a permanent basis. It is closed over the winter for safety reasons- I can tell you that one can feel the spray coming off the falls if the wind's strong enough out of the west, and that would be problematic in cold temperatures. When spring comes, visitors will be able to come have a look at the waterfalls.
The light show was about ten minutes long, and on the evening I took these, a weeknight, it wasn't as busy as the event was on the weekends, so I could linger awhile. I have more from here tomorrow.
That's spectacular - ethereal - and slightly alien..?ReplyDelete
