Canadiana

Picking up where we left off yesterday in this corridor, maple syrup production is a big part of life in the country in many parts of eastern Canada.

One of my favourite of these is about mountaineering.

The Big Nickel is an iconic sight along the Trans Canada Highway at Sudbury in northern Ontario.

This is the Festival Theatre in the southern Ontario town of Stratford, which for decades has had an acclaimed Shakespeare festival each year.

The Caribou Monument is in Bowring Park, Newfoundland and Labrador, and is a commemoration of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, done after the Great War, in which Newfoundlanders fought and served and suffered greatly.

Grain elevators are an iconic sight of the Canadian West, including this one in Saskatchewan.

The RCMP Musical Ride is another icon in the country.

Many American slaves took what came to be called the Underground Railroad during the decades leading up to the Civil War. A good number of them made new lives as free people in Canada. The Underground Railroad Monument stands in Windsor, Ontario.

Here we have the First Nations University of Canada, Regina campus.

And finishing off, this is a hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, a holdover of the days of the Klondike gold rush.

There is a The Simpsons episode on the Underground Railroad with the slave Virgil who flees to Canada.
