Satya Bella
Satya Bella is an acrobat with a specialty in hula hoops. I caught a bit of her act at one point during the festival, while she had a couple of guys from the audience helping her out- whether or not they liked it!
i have been always wishing i could do a hula hoop. they say it is super awesome exercise!! but i think my hips don't work right, or something?? LOL!! ( :
This would be great fun to watch. My wife and daughter tried hula hoops a few years ago (they used to be good at using them) and we laughed and laughed and laughed!
Getting people from the audience is a common tactic. It does a few things that holds the audience's attention. Are these guys going to fail? Will they be made fools of?
@Marianne: it's definitely a not that wanted task, certainly for an audience member who doesn't like being out in the open!
@Halcyon: there were hula hoops in the Olympics?
@Janis: when she does a night show, her hoops are lit up.
@Karl: they do, yes.
@Beth: I haven't been around a hula hoop since grade school.
@Gunn: there are times when it's more quiet, but through the summer, there are always things to do.
@Bill: she does!
@Lowell: it was fun.
@Sharon: oh yes.
@Linda: it's mesmerizing to watch.
@Marleen: it must take lots of practice.
@Red: yes, it's a very common thing for buskers to do that!
@Tamago: it is a really big one.
@Mo: I should have photographed more of her act. She ends up getting numerous hoops onto her torso, and onto each of her limbs, and keeps them moving. It's a hell of a thing to see.
Interesting. I wonder what the fellows did? I never could do a hula hoop. The tool on my post is a nail puller. It is very heavy and works real slick. For pulling nails submerged in wood or even concrete. Clever MB
I can't see them helping her with anything, must be embarrassing to stand there with all the public.
ReplyDeleteWas she as good as the girls in the Olympics?
ReplyDeleteDid you help her out? Would you? They make fancy ones that are wrapped in fur. Some are giant. It can be quite an art.

These have a wide audience !

ReplyDeleteNo hula hoops from me:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like you always have something FUN happening where you are.
I had a hula hoop as a small kid but never did anything like this. She's got talent :)

ReplyDeleteI'd say those hoops are keeping her in shape.
ReplyDeleteAh, I love hula hoops, William! I was quite good at keeping it on my waist when I was younger! What fun! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's really a large hula hoop, must be difficult to keep it up.

ReplyDeleteI remember having fun with hula hoops when I was small. But I won't be able to operate that huge hoop :-)

Did any of the guys try?
ReplyDeleteMany people enjoying - it's so nice with creativity.
Hey! I used to hula hoop. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun! I used to be able to hula hoop. I would be scared to try it now!

What fun. I used the hula hoop when we bought them for the children, but I wasn't as good as my daughter.
ReplyDelete@Birgitta: one rarely sees a guy trying this!
ReplyDelete@Revrunner: you did?
@Lois: I'd end up falling on my butt, no doubt.
@MB: ah, so that's what it was!
@Mari: some are better than others. I sometimes see a woman in a park doing it while she's reading.
Now that brings back memories :)
ReplyDeleteShe appears to be an agile woman with a good routine that attracts the crowds.
ReplyDeleteWonder Woman captured them in her hoops!
ReplyDeleteLike Mo I wondered what it is she did with them. I can't imagine what it would look like to have all those hoops spinning at once.
ReplyDeleteWhat a rush to be entertaining enough for this! My son's ex-girlfriend does burlesque and sword swallowing!
ReplyDeleteYou get to see the neatest stuff. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteI've never been coordinated enough for hula hoops....
ReplyDelete@Denise: it was good to see her back this year.
ReplyDelete@Kate: she has great skill.
@Cloudia: she did!
@Kay: I've seen it done, and it's amazing that all those hoops can go!
@Jennifer: this was fun.
@Whisk: thanks!
@Norma: me neither.
