To members of City Daily Photo, a reminder that the theme day for September is Library.
This pair of buskers were doing two acts during the festival, one more of a musical act, the other billed as the title duo. The two are from Britain and Switzerland, playing the part of Popeye and Olive Oyl in an act that blends acrobatics, dance, and comedy.
They are attracting quite a large crowd! :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice street happening. they looks really skilful and control themselves well.
ReplyDeleteA way of earning a living.
ReplyDeleteTomás.
Nice documentation of the duo.
ReplyDeleteInteresting spectacle!
ReplyDeleteInteresting street show and I would love to be there.

ReplyDeleteno spinach? so cool!! i will go google that song. love it! ( ;
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm even seeing people practice yoga like this, without the costumes. Wondering if the younger generation knows who Popeye and Olive are.

ReplyDeletevery cute and obviously talented!
ReplyDelete@Linda: they were.
ReplyDelete@Orvokki: it takes a lot of practice.
@Tomas: that it is.
@Stefan: thanks!
@Halcyon: indeed.
@Nancy: it is a lot of fun.
@Bill: it's an unlikely motif. I should have photographed their other act.
@Marianne: they did!
@Gemma: indeed.
@Beth: no spinich.
@Janis: many kids wouldn't know.
@Tamago: it was quite a treat.
what a fun show and i wonder though if the kids know who this pair is?!!
ReplyDeleteOh la la, judging by your photos, they were good !
ReplyDeleteI would be watching this act. They combine some great talent.
ReplyDeleteThat looks almost dangerous working on concrete. But what a pair. And thanks for the photos - you gave us a really good view of their act!
ReplyDeleteWas Popeye smoking his pipe while doing all those stunts?
ReplyDelete@Tex: very talented!
ReplyDelete@Tanya: I wondered too, but the kids were enjoying it.
@Karl: they certainly were!
@Red: it was a treat to see them. I can't recall them being here before.
@Lowell: it could be dangerous with one slip!
@Sharon: not that I saw!
They know how to entertain a crowd!
ReplyDeleteSome great entertainment, lots of fun and wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteI haven't thought about those two in a very long time. They seem to be alive and doing well in Ontario. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteFun! They were huge in my childhood. Glad to see they are still so spry, William!
ReplyDeleteThey are looking good!
ReplyDeleteKind of reminds me of a contractor I saw that for some inexplicable reason decided he needed to get down and do some pushups almost in the middle of the street this morning in my neighborhood. What was up with that?! :-)
ReplyDelete@Marleen: they certainly do.
ReplyDelete@Bill: thank you!
@Denise: thanks!
@Cloudia: these two were.
@RedPat: they certainly are!
@Revrunner: that's a peculiarity. Maybe warming up for the day?
I haven't thought of that duo in years. It looks like fun. Did they have any spinach?
ReplyDeleteEveryone seems to be enjoying the act. Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteMB
I was thinking about how many people there would know who Popeye and Olive Oyl were. I know my kids wouldn't (and they are all adults!).
ReplyDeleteI love buskers and it seems like your great city embraces them.
I sure would like to see that IRL :)
ReplyDeleteThe Popeye I remember had arms like jackhammers and Olive Oyl was a lot skinnier!
ReplyDeleteNorma has the correct description of Popeye and Olive Oyl, but doing those stunts on cement is gutsy.
ReplyDeleteThat's busking. What I saw in TO was begging not busking!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun show!
ReplyDeleteWhats the original name of them ?
ReplyDelete@Kay: none that I saw!
ReplyDelete@MB: it was fun.
@Pat: I was somewhat familiar with them.
@Birgitta: as of this writing, it'll all be back again soon.
@Norma: hah!
@Mari: it is indeed.
@Jennifer: I can imagine!
@Linda: it certainly was.
@Thalia: they just billed themselves as Popeye and Olive. Can't recall offhand their second act's name, but they switched out routines for that one.
