What Kind Of Vehicle Is That?

I was passing through the Byward Market one day and happened to notice these two vehicles parked side by side. They're three wheeled hybrids called Slingshots, with a belt drive, a mix between car and motorbike. I've never seen anything like them before, though they are made by a company that specializes in ATVs and snowmobiles. They were drawing attention from others too.

  2. Hey, if you can affort a $20,000 toy, why not? I wonder if it comes with life insurance with the spouse as beneficiary.

  4. Reminds me of the bat mobile. Don't know why I still have that memory :)

  5. I posted two photos of these things a few weeks ago...didn't know what they were at the time, either. Not much more than a 3-wheeled motorcycle. I'm with Mr. Burke...they do have that Batmobile loook!

  7. Goodness I can see how they would attract attention William. The black one also reminded me of the Batmobile 😃😃

  8. Looks like a great adventure for two. I'd love to ride around in one. I've seen them at the beach in North Carolina.

  9. They are very stylized and would certainly catch my attention. Other than that they seem to be low tech. It would be a new sensation for a ride.

    @Stuart: indeed!

    @Bill: I can see that.

    @Lowell: they do.

    @Marianne: they were quite new to me, though I am familiar with the company that makes them.

    @Hilary: yes.

    @Grace: me too.

    @Janis: they definitely seem suited for off road time.

  14. Not something I have ever seen before. They look they can go fast!

  15. @Red: they'd be a different kind of ride.

    @Tex: I thought that too.

    @Norma: it does seem like a hybrid between car and bike, and others are also thinking Bat related.

    @Lauren: it was new to me.

    @Sharon: they must be.

    @Linda: I agree.

  17. These vehicles look as if they would fit very nicely into a Batman movie. Fascinating styles.

  18. I am thinking you could go fast in those.

  20. Someone who lives here in the same apt building as we do has something similar parked in the lot. Thanks for all the info, William. Since there's no top, these are not good to drive on rainy days😕

  21. Are you sure you didn't stumble onto the set of a Transformers movie? They're very interesting but those seats don't look very inviting.

  22. Cool! I've seen three wheelers but these have batmobile styling!

  24. Very cool!
    Hubby drove a motorcycle. His first wife (I'm #3!) raced them!

    @Gemma: they have that influence.

    @Janey: possibly.

    @Furry Gnome: they caught my eye for sure.

    @Beatrice: definitely not.

    @Kay: they would be low to get into.

    @Linda: they do.

    @Orvokki: they were peculiar.

    @Karl: indeed.

    @Jennifer: I wouldn't mind taking one for a spin.

  27. My great niece and her husband have a red one like the one in the fifth picture down. I've only seen one driving around here in my small city. They really aren't practical.
