Splendid Colour

It's Victoria Day today, so I shall be scarce, but will catch up tomorrow.

Returning now to Major's Hill Park, I took these on the same day as my previous last three posts, since the park is close to both spots. Tulips could be found around and behind Colonel By's statue.

This view is at one of the east side entrances into the park, with the American embassy as a backdrop.

I liked how the blooms in this bed mixed with the blossoming tree above.

And this bed is one of the two beds on the north end of the park, with the National Gallery's glass tower as its backdrop.

  16. Lots of nice color here. I like the more pastel tulips as much as the bright red ones. And I like Colonel By's helmet or whatever.

  21. Do they replant the bulbs every year, like they do in Holland?
    If so, I can't imagine the effort.

  24. @Jennifer: I got a lot of shots in this year.

    @Beatrice: I spent a good part of yesterday up around Rideau Hall and the Rideau Falls, finishing up the tulip series. It'll take a few days to get all of the shots into posts!

    @Janis: yes, they plant bulbs in the fall. They take them out when they're done, and replace them for the summer season with flowers and plants that last through the season.

    @Beth: they certainly are.

    @Norma: thanks!
