Capital Colours In The Autumn

Fall colours here have been late this year; a warm spell in September set things back. I've got several posts with fall colours for now, and more to come in November. This particular tree is in Centretown, and I know it well enough to know it's always one of the first trees in the area to change colours.

Fall decorations were found one evening along Preston Street in Little Italy.

Back in Centretown on another day, this tree was in full fall colour.

These I took in Major's Hill Park, near the Chateau Laurier, one day early in the month.

Coming out of the park, I found more with the Connaught Building in the background.

This display was in the Byward Market.

  1. Love, love, love the autumn pictures!

  2. I'm sure autumn is going to catch up with you quickly. I'm especially partial to those trees that are showing deep red.

  3. Oh yes! Hooray for autumn colors!

  4. Wonderful Autumnal colours William

  5. The change of seasons is upon us. Our fall is late here, too.

  6. It is such a wonderful time of year!

  7. ...a wonderful, colorful time of year!

  8. @Whisk: so do I.

    @Kay: it has swiftly advanced since I took these.

    @Linda: indeed!

    @Dianne: thanks!

    @Janis: it has been that kind of year.

    @Marianne: I love this time of year.

    @Francisco: thank you.

    @Marleen: definitely!

    @Tom: it is!

  9. I feel the invigoration of your Autumn!

  10. One has to watch fall carefully. Sometimes leaf colors come leisurely and other times the time of color is very slow.

  11. I always enjoy seeing fall decorations.

  12. @Cloudia: it took awhile. Usually we'd be at peak at the beginning of October.

    @Red: that is true.

    @Jan: me too.

    @Lois: I do as well.

    @Sharon: and more to come.

  13. love all the gorgeous fall leaves, so pretty. look forward 2 this time each year. fave! any snow? i had to ask Ruth another Canadian blogger friend and funny how the next night she got snow ... i must have snow knowledge or something??! lol.

  14. Our trees are just about to turn here . . . just in time for this weekend's wind storm. :-)

  15. We haven't had a lot of the great reds & oranges this year. There are isolated beauties around but many trees are just dropping leaves without changing color a lot.

  16. Autumn is coming along beautifully now by your lovely scenes!

  17. I love Autumn and your photos are very festive. My favorite time of the year.

  18. @Beth: no snow yet, but it can't be that long before we see the odd flake. That usually heralds it all in.

    @Revrunner: many of ours have turned, but others are still in the process of doing so.

    @RedPat: we've had a lot of yellows that I've noticed, but some stand out reds and oranges.

    @Christine: later than usual, at that, but autumn finally presented itself properly.

    @Denise: I enjoy this time of the year.

  19. Autumn has arrived in Ottawa. Great colours and lovely photos!
