One of the displays at Inspiration Village was about the national parks of Canada, which can be found in every single province and territory. Some are larger, some smaller. Some are easily accessible, others are in remote spots. Parks Canada manages them, and also manages the various National Historic Sites spread throughout the country.
Here we have a larger view of Inspiration Village, with the Connaught Building and the Peace Tower in the background.
Nunavut's displays caught my interest during my visits to Inspiration Village over the summer. The territory, created as a division of the Northwest Territories at the end of the 20th century, features some of our most rugged and beautiful landscapes.
In this display, the background banner includes one of those landscapes- Mount Thor.
I should have photographed this display a few minutes earlier than I did. Manitoba's display included large polar bears of the stuffed animal variety, and when I was first looking here, a family had a little white dog posing among the bears. That dog was very patient; one expects it was used to being a photo subject.
National Parks are a great asset. Love the bears!
ReplyDeleteI think Theodore Roosevelt said that the U.S. national parks was one of our greatest ideas. I've been to many of them here and all have been wonderful. People need to see and understand the natural world and what better way than in a park setting.
ReplyDelete...when I was a kid we went to Algonquin Park that was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHello, the national parks are a great asset. Banff National Park is on my wish list of places to visit. Seeing the polar bears would be cool too. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteOs cartazes são fantásticos.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom Domingo.

In many ways our countries are similar William. National Parks and camping are big here too.
ReplyDelete@Linda: they are!
ReplyDelete@Kay: Teddy was right.
@Tom: Algonquin is a beautiful place.
@Eileen: I've been in Banff. It is a wonder.
@Francisco: thank you.
@Grace: it is a way of life here.
Great displays! I have many parks in Canada that I’d love to visit some day. Been to Northwest Territories long time ago. The landscape was breathtaking. Watching aurora was one of the best experiences!
ReplyDeleteI just love those chairs in the first shot!
ReplyDeleteInspiration village inspires me! What a great idea.

I'm a huge supporter of our national parks. Canada's, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhile I've not had opportunity to experience your national parks I have read about them and have heard from people who have been to one or more. Generally, they speak very highly of them. I second the comment by Janis at Greensboro Daily Photol
ReplyDeleteHi William! In re your comment on Ocala: I would love to be able to walk the course, but cannot because of my legs which are weak from spinal stenosis. Trilogy was originally built to be a walking course but they soon learned that old folks have a hard time walking about four miles while hitting golf balls. Most of the courses around here allow walking and some people do that but it's too hard on us more ancient specimens! :)
ReplyDeleteI just returned from two of your parks, as you know...and they are amazing!
ReplyDelete@Tamago: the aurora is breathtaking to see.
ReplyDelete@Lois: so do I.
@Janis: it was a good idea.
@Revrunner: they need to be protected.
@Lowell: these are well looked after. Ah, that explains your use of the golf carts.
@Janey: they certainly are.
National Parks are so important.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Those polar bears are really something.
ReplyDeleteNational Parks are great for camping. Their beauty is priceless.
ReplyDeleteNational Parks are great. There is one in my backyard, well, not quite, but about ten to twelve miles south.
ReplyDeletei love the red chairs. so need them. we have been to Jasper, Banff, i think i am missing a few ...we loved those. i can't wait to get up there again soon. Canada rocks! ( ;
ReplyDeleteA good way to get the word out about all of our parks!
ReplyDeleteI love the bears and the red chairs!
ReplyDeleteI like the new glamping, huts on parks sites. We would never camp, though. Bad backs and old farts!
ReplyDeleteNational parks are so important...I wonder if we'll have any left by the time our so-called President leaves office.
ReplyDeleteWonderful displays of the National Parks.
ReplyDeleteOur children have traveled Canada from east to west in 2004. They had a wonderful time overthere and a lot of great shots of several National Parks. If only I were still healthy and a little richer ... ;-)
Bears are the best!
ReplyDelete@Jan: they certainly are.
ReplyDelete@Catalyst: I'm still kicking myself over not photographing the dog with them.
@Bill: quite true.
@Mari: we have some a bit further away from here, but within easy reach.
@Beth: Jasper and Banff are great places.
@RedPat: it is!
@Linda: me too.
@Jennifer: it would come in handy.
@Norma: hopefully he's not around much longer.
@Jan: it's quite a country to visit.
@Klara: rather cuter than the real ones!
