A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme day for November 1st is Rock N' Roll.
One afternoon in early September I was in the Gloucester area running errands, waiting for a bus. There was heavy rain that day, off and on, and dramatic skies looking east and west.
The bus took me up to Billings Bridge, where the mall has one of the major stations along our transitway. The skies retained that dramatic look.
Further north, I took this shot at the Sunnyside Library, where the sunflowers were still bright at that time. The wall of the stadium at Lansdowne Park can be glimpsed in the background.
And nearby, I looked east and west from the Bank Street Bridge over the Canal to get views of the dark skies.
Great series from the bus ride. My favourite is the second last photo - view of the river.
ReplyDeleteThe sunflowers are such a nice bright spot in the midst of gloomy weather.
ReplyDeleteBelas fotografias em tempo de chuva.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e boa semana.

...stormy skies late yesterday and into the evening.
ReplyDelete@Nancy: thanks!
ReplyDelete@Kay: they were indeed.
@Francisco: thank you.
@Janis: true.
@Tom: we had rain yesterday off and on. Today it is dry.
That was drama yesterday. Still thousands without power, too. I love the drama, myself.
ReplyDeleteThen, Ophelia is headed towards the UK. That won't be pretty.
Super series of sky shots - very dramatic. The best part is when the clouds part and the sun breaks through!
ReplyDeleteHello, our skies have been cloudy for days now. Great series on the dramatic sky. I like the pretty sunflower and the view of the canal. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!
ReplyDeleteThey do look threatening.
ReplyDeleteI love the pic over the canal!
ReplyDeleteStormy skies are fascinating and make for good pictures !
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day for clouds and you happened to be out there and saw them?
ReplyDelete@Jennifer: we had some high winds in the city last night, and quite a downpour at one point. I had to take shelter a few blocks from home.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: definitely!
@Eileen: today's a mix of clouds and sun, but thus far, it's been dry.
@Lois: they were. We got some lightning and thunder out of that day.
@RedPat: it is a good one.
@Karl: they do indeed.
@Red: fortunately I didn't get wet!
That sunflower really stands out against all of the gloom.
ReplyDeleteYou captured some pretty dramatic skies here Those really dark skies are pretty threatening, like something big is on the way.
ReplyDeleteI really like the sky and light in the second last photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the views and moody skies!
ReplyDeleteMuch like our skies this morning.

ReplyDelete@Norma: they do! They lasted quite awhile this year. They're still kind of hanging in, but well past their prime now.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: there was quite a lot of active weather that day. At the height of it I was in a bus shelter, which fortunately kept the rain out, but a lot of intense lightning.
@Pamela: so do I.
@Linda: me too.
@Revrunner: we've had mostly clouds today, with some sun here and there, but I don't think there's been rain.
@Beth: thanks! I do tend to use Blogger, which is fine for me. I store my photos in email accounts.
A familiar looking sky, very dramatic. The canal photo is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos of changeable skies. Love the beautiful wide canal. (We say we live on a canal at our Florida cottage, but compared to this one it is a long narrow puddle.)
ReplyDeletethere has been a lot of stormy skies in the past 48 hours. Hoping now we get some clear skies! Great shots.
ReplyDeleteAwesome stormy sky photos ~ We had those and now it has turned to seasonally cool ~ Crazy weather ^_^
ReplyDeleteA ShutterBug Explores ~ aka ~ (A Creative Harbor)
Brooding skies that promise foul cold weather to come.
ReplyDelete@Bill: I can never get tired of that canal.
ReplyDelete@Sallie: it's a wonderful waterway. UNESCO even named it a World Heritage Site.
@Gill: we had some downpour yesterday evening!
@Carol: the temperatures have dropped here too.
@Mari: after this, it was warm weather for awhile!
Clouds make for some great photos! Love the contrast of the Sunflowers and the sky...
ReplyDeleteAtmospheric - then you broke through! Nice
ReplyDeleteIt's a strange combination: bad weather and wonderful skies ... :-)
