It's time for some fall shots. I was down in Commissioners Park at Dow's Lake late in the afternoon on the last day of September. The lake is formed here as part of the Rideau Canal, and the park's flowerbeds are a prime spot for the Tulip Festival in May. The rest of the growing season, plants and flowers are placed there that last into October. By now they're either removed or in the process of being removed so that tulip bulbs have the soil over the winter.
This tree was getting its fall colors underway.
Here we have the lake itself, with Carleton's campus and the Arboretum in the background. A nice spot to sit for awhile.
Wonderful post and the last photo is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI have a chair, really two just outside my studio door just like this. I like sitting in there and looking at my view just like in your photo.
Now mandibles and I play fetch there also.
cheers, parsnip
That last shot says it all. I'm ready to take a seat!

You still have some flowers in the parks.
ReplyDeleteHello, gorgeous flowers and plants. I like the view from the chair in the last photo. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThe season is well on the way to changing here, and getting colder
ReplyDeleteI love fall colours but we don't have it here!
ReplyDelete@Parsnip: there are several of these chairs there.
ReplyDelete@Kay: I know the feeling.
@Francisco: thanks!
@Tom: winter is coming.
@Janis: the nights are colder.
@Marianne: most are done now.
@Eileen: thank you.
@Bill: it's the same here.
@Nancy: it's been late here.
That chair is really in the right place !
ReplyDeleteAlthough the colors and the light can be beautiful in October and November, fall isn't my favourite season.
ReplyDeleteIt is sad to see the floors leaving us.
ReplyDeleteI like fall the best of all seasons.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all those who lauded the last shot and the chair. But the flora is very similar to our flora here. Of course, our flora was just planted with the intention of lasting for a month or two or three... :)
ReplyDelete@Karl: it certainly is!
ReplyDelete@Jan: winter is mine!
@RedPat: the flowers held on quite awhile this year.
@Red: it is a wonderful season.
@Lowell: whoever takes care of the gardens do a beautiful job.
Those all look like a great late summer arrangement.
ReplyDeleteThe chair looks inviting, but I suppose it won't be long before that would be a pretty chilly place to sit.
ReplyDeletegorgeous blooms. the last shot steals the show for me though. lovely!
ReplyDeleteeverything looks great! ( ;
Lovely fall photos! I wish I was sitting in that chair.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always, William. The little tree over our birdbath is changing color a bit but mostly just dropping leaves.
ReplyDeleteAll the purple blooms -- my favorites! And that last photo is the best. I could sit in that chair for hours and just relax.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, William. Take a seat and enjoy the scenery, it's gorgeous.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: and the light was just right that day.
ReplyDelete@Revrunner: it might well be that case right now.
@Beth: it's the ideal spot. They have several chairs there during the season.
@Lois: thanks!
@Catalyst: we've got a lot of leaves changing. I think I'm done with the fall photography, but you never know!
@Sharon: these gardens really look good come September.
@Bill: it certainly is.
Lovely colors---don't ya just love fall
ReplyDeleteMB
The flowers are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt is mind boggling to think of the many hours it must take to change those seasonal displays. It certainly would be very pleasant to sit in that chair and look across the river. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteThat chair really does look inviting. What a beautiful place to take a stroll in. With a camera of course!
ReplyDeleteGreat colors! The last shot is stunning!
ReplyDeleteGreat poignant series and final shot, William
