Change

The French took a new role as they pushed into the interior of the continent, establishing alliances with tribes- and finding themselves in conflict with the enemies of those tribes. The Post-Contact Wars rose up out of that.


Here we see some of the weaponry of the period.


A map of southern Ontario includes names with First Nations connections.


New France would be established during this period.

  15. This is a wonderful museum .., I read back and forward from this one and all your posts much appreciated. I would like to know more history about “the daughters of the King” ...where they came from (their background) and why .... what life in the New World was like, how they ended up with the particular husband (partner?) they ended up with, all so interesting to think about.

    1. I imagine a lot of them would have been women whose prospects in France might have been less so than the idea of a voyage across the ocean, but these are the women who helped build a country.
