One snowy day during Winterlude 2018, I set out for a walk on the Canal skateway. I approached the Pretoria Bridge.
Here was the view looking further upstream.
On the ice surface I caught one of the plows that keep the ice surface clear.
Further downstream I took a shot of the freeway bridge that runs parallel to the Pretoria Bridge.
Turning around gave me this view. The campus of the University of Ottawa is off in the distance, obscured in the falling snow.
I was approaching the Corktown Bridge.
Here's the view from on top of the bridge looking down the last stretch of the Canal.
At City Hall, I took this shot of large inflatable Ice Hogs.
The Ice Hogs themselves were here at the time.
For today I finish off with this night view of the rink at City Hall, with the Cartier Square Drill Hall in the background. We'll pick up here tomorrow.
Lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the skaters on the canal, especially at the bridges, that's very nice.
ReplyDeleteA new record has been broken in the Netherlands today. For the first time this morning on April 3 it was possible to skate on natural ice.

Skating looks pretty popular where you are.
ReplyDeleteLots of people out in the cold there! We are fasting for Ramadan and it's pretty hot here, so I'm not going out at all!

ReplyDeleteIn all of the dull and monochromatic photos, the blue coat really stood out in one of those later photo of the skaters.
ReplyDeleteThe ice fields look so drab.
ReplyDeleteOttawa is fun in the winter judging from your pics!
ReplyDeleteNice photos, skaters on the canal are favorites.
ReplyDeleteWinter fun down on the canal. Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteQuite a contrast with the tulips in your header. :-)
ReplyDeleteSe ve un día poco apetecible para salir a la calle, pero ahí están los grandes deportista que no le tienen miedo al frío.
