Some of you saw my note on Facebook. For those who did not, I've tested positive for Covid and am isolating myself. And annoyed with myself. Two plus years of this and I get it now? Sigh.
I start today with a view from the Mackenzie King Bridge downtown on a clear cold day during Winterlude 2019. The last stretch of the Rideau Canal skateway is below us, with the NAC and Parliament Hill at left, and the Chateau Laurier and Government Conference Centre at right. Plaza Bridge, in the distance, is the last bridge crossing the Canal before it descends down through a series of locks to meet the Ottawa River.
On a different day, but similarly sunny, I joined the Canal at Lansdowne Park in the Glebe to walk downtown on the ice. It was one of those days where if you photograph in one direction, you'll get a sky looking like this, but in another direction, bright and blue.
Such as this. The Flora Bridge, a pedestrian bridge, was in the distance.
The bridge links the Glebe neighbourhood on the west side to the Old Ottawa East neighbourhood on the east side.
Here's the same bridge from the other side.
The parkway crosses this small but graceful arch bridge for the Patterson Creek inlet, which feeds out into the main body of the Canal and is part of the skateway.
The next bridge down is the Pretoria Bridge.
Continuing beyond that, this stretch looks towards the last bend in the Canal heading downtown.
Along that bend are buildings that are part of the University of Ottawa campus on the east side of the Canal. The campus is in the Sandy Hill neighbourhood.
And the final stretch: the Corktown Bridge, another pedestrian bridge, can be seen in the distance.
This bridge links Centretown on the west side with Sandy Hill on the east side. The Chateau Laurier is off in the distance, less than a kilometre away on the final stretch of the skateway.
Take care of yourself! I hope you recover in time to enjoy the tulips.
ReplyDeleteIngo was tested positive, too. Waited 24 hours, next test: negative - those tests sometimes give wrong results, I hope yours did, also! The darn waiting is bad, fingers and toes crossed you´re OK after all!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't heard of it yet, because I still don't have Facebook, but I wish you a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteThat's a paradise for ice skaters. I never learned it, only roller skating.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon and take care. COVID is not to be trifled with.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a rapid recovery from this pesky virus.
ReplyDeleteThe sixth photo is a stunner.
ReplyDeleteGostei destas fotografias de Inverno.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI wish you a speedy recovery! Great views of the canal, bridges and skaters.
Take care, enjoy your day!
...I'm sorry to hear your news. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteSome self test products are not reliable. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Some have very mild symptoms and test negative on 3rd or 5th day.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear of your need to quarantine. Hopefully you will recover quickly.
ReplyDelete@Linda: that should be no issue.
ReplyDelete@Iris: my symptoms are largely confined to a sore throat.
@Jan: I'll get there.
@Gattina: I never learned.
@David: I'm getting lots of rest.
@John: pesky indeed.
@Gemel: thank you.
ReplyDelete@Francisco: thanks.
@Eileen: I hope so.
@Tom: working on it.
@Nancy: well, I am sick along with the test results, so in this case it was accurate.
@DJan: I think I should.
Very nice captures all!
ReplyDeleteTake care. Here's to testing negative soon!
So sorry to hear you have caught it. There seem to be so many people catching it now.
ReplyDeleteGreat views! Sorry to hear that you got the dreaded virus. Hopefully, it will be a mild case. I'm sure it's annoying.
ReplyDeleteHi William -- I'm so sorry to hear Covid got to you and I hope it is a mild case with a quick recovery. Will this never end? We're expecting a surge here so I'm laying low from crowds.
ReplyDeleteAwesome view! Hoping you test negative soon, take care.
ReplyDelete@Magiceye: I hope so
ReplyDelete@RedPat: it seems so contagious but much less virulent.
@Sharon: I think it is.
@Jeanie: I'm spending the time quietly.
@Bill: I hope so too.
Your bridges are always fascinating ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you laughter and love in your days,

I do like these bridges.
DeleteI like the river, which is frozen and you can move and skate etc. along it.
ReplyDeleteThe bridges over river are nice.
Thank you.
DeleteWinter, winter, winter. Wishing you a safe and speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteI hope so.
DeleteI need warmer places now.
ReplyDeleteMy brother got Covid 3 weeks ago. It hasn't been pleasant and he has the three dosages.
This feels relatively mild.
DeleteIt's not your fault. You've done a great job! These things can happen to the most careful people. Hoping you're going to be right as rain very soon
ReplyDeleteI still feel to blame. I've been so careful.
DeleteIf I were superstitious I'd say someone put a whammy on me.
Hope you are doing ok, William!
ReplyDeleteSome improvement day by day.
DeleteHow are you feeling?
ReplyDeleteI think we all had it when it first started, February 2920 before lockdown began in March. My oldest son had the worst sore throat ever, so bad we took him to get tested for strep. It was negative. I had sniffles only. Youngest son and hubby had no symptoms, if they had it. A couple weeks later the world was closed down.
2020. Ha ha! I am not a time traveler, honest.
DeleteI imagine at some point I'd had it, just asymptomatic about it.
DeleteGood to see so many people out and about even though it's cold and snowy
ReplyDeleteEmphasis on cold.
