I start today where I left off yesterday, standing in the ribbon of grass between two beds of tulips at the south end of Commissioners Park.
Fellow members of the Tulip Paparazzi were busy taking pictures. I vastly prefer coming down this way during the week. Weekends during the Festival, the crowds are just too much. I remember being here on a weekend last year and having the distinct unpleasant feeling of "I can't breathe".
In case you're wondering, that red sculpture in the background sticking up above the bushes is one of the tulip sculptures, sitting in the backyard of one of the homes. We'll pick up here tomorrow.
You should adopt my approach. I used to have an issue with big crowds, but once I started taking street photos it turned into an obsession, almost.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time though I'm fine in crowds. Just every once in awhile that happens. But last year showed me too much of the everyone must take dozens of selfies in front of the tulips side when I was there on the weekend
DeleteThe darkest red are the loveliest.
ReplyDeleteThey stand out.
DeleteI have never been a big fan of crowds and COVID reinforced that in spades. I now avoid crowded situations as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time when I'm in a crowd, I'm fine.
DeleteEl color rojo, es muy vistoso y da mucha alegría a los jardines.
ReplyDeleteThank you.

DeleteThe photo frenzy is like what takes place here with the cherry blossoms. Not a pleasant experience.
ReplyDeleteYour shots look to be not too overrun with people though.
No. There are people around, but it's easier to get the shots you want when you come on weekdays.
DeleteSo bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
Deletethat pink and red together is very attractive.
ReplyDeleteVery much so.
DeleteIt is not really spring until we see your photos, William. Thank you
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteBeautiful coulours everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThere are.
DeleteIt looks like for some these shots you dot on your belly. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteNo, but for some to come I did.
DeleteA beautiful time of the year (minus the masses of people... but that´s part of it, huh).
ReplyDeleteTrue.
DeleteThe photos with the passing walkers between the tulips are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI like that.
DeleteWow! Awesome tulips ~ great photos ~
ReplyDeleteWe only have pansies at the moment ~ the weather has been dreadful for the tulips ~ sigh ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

DeleteThese tulip blooms are just gorgeous
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteI love that they have tulip sculptures, too. Is one of Ottawa's nicknames "The Tulip City"? It should be!
ReplyDeleteIt should.
DeleteI don't mind crowds in a city but like you I hate to encounter them in a park. Only partly because crowds mean I myself can't get good pictures, which I know is kind of a selfish reason to hate the other photographers. But also because people in crowded situations out in nature are so often disrespectful of nature's beauty.
ReplyDeleteI can relate.
DeleteStunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
