The Mammal Gallery makes use of dioramas, large and small, for their subjects, with the taxidermied specimen close up front, and painted backgrounds. Here we have a family of beavers.
Some mammals have adapted to include camouflage.
Most, including ourselves, spend time grooming to keep clean.
The next diorama features a couple of grizzly bears in a mountainous terrain, looking for a pika, which is below them.
See him?
Very clever and engaging. William
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteWow, very, very well done.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteBeavers are such industrious creatures, and very cute. I did spot the pika. Another mammal I have not heard of, and equally adorable.
ReplyDeleteBeavers are remarkable.
DeleteBeavers are very smart !
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteThose dioramas are really well done.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteNice series again, William.
ReplyDeleteBesides otters and wolves, beavers are also advancing in our country. There seems to be a beaver near here. Fortunately, bears are still at a great distance.
They deserve a chance.
DeleteQuite realistic.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.

DeleteAmazing dioramas!
ReplyDeleteIndeed
DeleteI really like the dioramas.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteInteresting that grizzlies dig up a few acres looking for bugs and eating roots. When you see freshly dug areas beware as there are grizzlies nearby.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt.
DeleteAwesome exhibit with the grizzlies ~ and beavers so important too ~

DeleteCharming creatures.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteSo many times, beavers get moved to new locations because of the areas they dam.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately true.
DeleteThe dioramas are very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes they are.
DeleteGorgeous dioramas. The amount of work that goes into them must be tremendous!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteSo well done! when we came back from our roadtrip summer in Alaska we saw almost as many animals on our quick trip through BC as we had way up north ... have always wanted to roadtrip through more of Canada
ReplyDeleteA good country to travel through, but then I am biased.
DeleteTook me a while but did finally see the pika.
ReplyDeleteBeavers are pretty amazing.
Yes they are.
DeleteHey, hey, hey, beavers!!! I know those little guys! Bears too but not too closely. Beautiful to see from a distance though.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteI'm so behind on your posts. I'm always amazed at beavers. I told Rick he should visit this spot while he's in Ottawa!
ReplyDeleteHe should!
