Beavers

The Mammal Gallery makes use of dioramas, large and small, for their subjects, with the taxidermied specimen close up front, and painted backgrounds. Here we have a family of beavers.

Some mammals have adapted to include camouflage.

Most, including ourselves, spend time grooming to keep clean.

The next diorama features a couple of grizzly bears in a mountainous terrain, looking for a pika, which is below them.

See him?

  2. Beavers are such industrious creatures, and very cute. I did spot the pika. Another mammal I have not heard of, and equally adorable.

  3. Nice series again, William.
Besides otters and wolves, beavers are also advancing in our country. There seems to be a beaver near here. Fortunately, bears are still at a great distance.

  6. Interesting that grizzlies dig up a few acres looking for bugs and eating roots. When you see freshly dug areas beware as there are grizzlies nearby.

  8. So many times, beavers get moved to new locations because of the areas they dam.

  11. So well done! when we came back from our roadtrip summer in Alaska we saw almost as many animals on our quick trip through BC as we had way up north ... have always wanted to roadtrip through more of Canada
