It's time to say goodbye to Winterlude... have you felt overdosed by it?
On the last day of the festival, I found myself up at Patterson Creek in the Glebe. It's an offshoot of the Rideau Canal, a stretch of which makes up the skateway. This area is good for kids who might be a bit nervous being out on the open ice of the Canal with many more skaters. I like the bridge, where the creek joins the rest of the skateway.
Close to the bridge is this massive tree.
Using its trunks to frame skaters on the Canal seemed like a different way to take a shot.
Back in Confederation Park with this final shot from that last weekend. Another one of these ice sculptures you could pose behind was erected just in time for Valentine's Day. It seems appropriate to leave off with this one, lit in red.
That looks so cool. It never gets that cold in Sydney.

ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't! I can't get enough of real winter. The tree is so majestic, I wonder how old it is. And that heart is to die for! You could have kept it for Valentine's day 2015!
ReplyDeleteJane: Arch bridges are fascinating! Every time I see an arch bridge I have this weird habit of looking for the keystone. I am intrigued by the idea that without it the bridge would fall apart. Out of habit I looked for the keystone in your picture. It is very prominent. Cool!

ReplyDeleteHere, we had the worst winter ever: storms for two months, the ocean has gone wild like never before and our coast is a mess from north to south. Millions of tons of sand were washed away from the beaches and the damages on man-made structures are unbelievable. Gladly, it seems to be over, the skies are blue and temperatures are above 20ºC now.
A no nonsense,solid and dependable bridge!

Good post. Goodbye to the festival. Love the bridge/underpass. I really love to ice skate but finally gave my skates away. As I move further out in the country there are fewer places to skate. MB

Seeing all the winterlude posts, William, has made us consider taking a Canadian trip in winter just to see the snow and ice sculptures. What we need is more time for all the adventures we plan in our minds.
