We Now Present The Stupidest Idiot Alive

Britton's is a newspaper and magazine shop in the Glebe. As of late, they've had something unusual in the window. The Mayor of Toronto, one Rob Ford, has put out bobblehead ornaments to fundraise for his re-election campaign. If you've been hiding under a rock for the last three or four years, this Mayor is an incompetent, unfit for office, alcoholic, crack smoking, misogynistic, drug addict with horrible judgment, an inability to learn from mistakes, profound bigotry, and a raging temper. He's dragged his city and the country through the mud every single time he has opened his mouth. I firmly believe this man is the stupidest human being on the planet (with his enabling brother coming up close behind), and I yearn for the day when their bloody circus is finally and permanently removed from public life, whether that comes from defeat at the polls or a high profile arrest. Just this week the colossal moron took a break to "get help"... though I find it dubious that he's actually checked into rehab just based on his word alone- the man's a habitual liar, after all. A few days back, I posted another day in the life from his point of view over at my writer's blog. Now, his bobbleheads don't even look like him- they're a lot slimmer, have more hair than he does, and have expressive, jovial faces. Britton's isn't stocking his bobbleheads. The ones they have in stock are a parody item, and while they might still be too slim and have more hair than the real thing... the bottle of booze, the crack pipe, and the dazed, confused, and stoned expression is pure Rob Ford.

  1. Great post, funny but quite serious as the matter deserves. I wonder why a guy like this isn't our mayor: he will fit perfectly here...

  2. I think he is a disgrace and an embarrassment to all Canadians . He should of been fired ages ago ! I even put this comment on Face Book !

  3. Though having that critter in your home, I recommend buying at least one. One day, they'll be a collector's item!

Pass me a barf bag, would you?

  4. Your description of him was far too polite.

  5. Too bad so sad. Why he is still in office is beyond me. A bobblehead for a bobblehead---I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole. Yours is a perfect editorial. MB

  6. OMG! Surely people wouldn't vote for someone who would willingly have a bobblehead image made of themselves, noooooo!

  7. @VP: can we export him over there at our expense?

@Country Gal: he's a disgrace, and so are those people who still support him. They've become the biggest argument in favour of IQ tests to qualify for voting.

@Norma: you wouldn't be the only one throwing up!

@Jane and Chris: to describe him accurately would mean breaking my usual habit of only using curse words in moderation.

@Luis: and he still won't resign.

@Mary Beth: city council in Toronto did all they could to politically neuter him, but there was no mechanism to fire him. If he were in a private company as a CEO, he would have been fired long ago.

@Grace: the official Ford bobblehead is ridiculous. Frank, the satirical magazine who designed this one, at least meant to go with ridiculous!

  8. The bobblehead has a stupefied, zombie-like expression. Just like the real thing?

  9. He certainly has made a name for himself....not a very nice name...just a name.

  10. Sick of him! Did you see Rosie DiManno's article in The Toronto Star?

  11. You've shown all those wonderful monuments and buildings from your city and now they have a Mayor like that. It seems incredible.

  12. Canada! Ever a beacon of civility and good judgement. What on earth is happening? Great weekend reflection by the way!

  13. I may be the only one, but I had to laugh when I saw the bobbleheads. :)

  14. Oh my! He actually still has people who support him? He kind of reminds me of Rush Limbaugh. And I don't mean that in a good way.

  15. @Cheryl: just like him!

@Sharon: a name that will go down in the annals of infamy.

@Jackie: I did! I read the Star daily as one of my papers. She skewered him.

@Mari: I'm glad our local mayor is boring. I might have some issues with him, but you'll never see him even thinking of this kind of behaviour.

@Greensboro: he's the exception to the Canadian rule that we're civilized.

@Tex: the sooner he's gone forever, the better.

@Linda: I did too, at least these ones! I thought of titling this post Attack Of The Clones.

@Judy: I can't believe I'm saying this, but Rush Limbaugh isn't this dumb.

  16. You are right; he has brought discredit on your fine city and the sooner you can get rid of him, the better off you will be. And, I thought that our Jesse Ventura was an embarrassment. . . he still is, too!

  17. OK William tell us how you really feel !

    cheers, parsnip

  18. It would be nice to never hear of him again!

  19. He's been getting a lot of publicity hasn't he? I don't think I would bother buying one of those. Makes you wonder how these people get as far as they do.

  20. I don't know much about Canadian politics and politicians, but this guy is quite famous. I hope Toronto and Canada can get rid of him as a mayor or whatever political function.

  21. I love how now that Robyn Doolittle is at the Globe, that is the paper that broke the latest story.
These are much better than the ones RoFo was selling.

  22. The late night comedians have fun with his escapades.

  23. You nailed it! He's doomed, I hope.

  24. He can join our roster of incompetent—and corrupt—politicians.

  25. @Kate: one thing's for sure: this guy's an object lesson- don't be like this guy.

@Parsnip: it would involve a whole lot of swearing.

@RedPat: that would be such a lovely prospect.

@Denise: if his old man hadn't made a whole lot of money, he and his brothers would have ended up being at the bar every night, complaining how everyone else gets ahead but them. They have no inherent talent or skill to speak of.

@Jan: the voters have to turf him out... assuming he hasn't resigned, been arrested, or died of a heart attack before the next election.

@Hamilton: I expect that's quite literally the way he sees himself in his own bobbleheads.

@Linda: oh, I know, particularly Stewart at the Daily Show.

    @Jennifer: I hope so!

@Hilda: there's no shortage of those!

  26. This seems to be one of the few and far between times that a Canadian has outdone a U.S. politician in the outrageous department.

  27. I love Kay's comment. Unfortunately, such 'politicians' are worldwide. The most competent people to run a country or a city never get elected or for that matter, even run for office. It's a dirty business.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Surely he can't possibly be re-elected?

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Kay: he could write the definitive work on the subject of outrageousness... but I don't think he's able to string together two words at a time.

    @Bibi: it really is.

@Petrea: well, the latest polls have what's left of his support dropping fast.

  30. Sheeesh....he is marketing those himself? Amazing. I bet he sells a lot of them too.

  31. I've seen this guy on the news. Not for the best reasons I must say. Well... don't get me started on politicians... :-)

  32. @Jack: I find myself wishing he'd just go away forever...

@Joan: apparently he thinks bobbleheads are a marvelous campaign tool. Though I doubt he'd appreciate this version.

@Jose: this idiot seems to love attention. And the world's been giving it to him. It doesn't occur to him or his followers that they're being laughed at.
