Springtime Blossoms

This weekend is Doors Open in Ottawa. I'll be busy taking pics, and will have them posted, but I'll give myself a few days breathing space with some posts of various subjects before then.

For a brief time each spring, some of the trees and bushes here bloom in vibrant pinks, purples, and whites. Lilacs, cherry trees, and more can be found among them. The shots I have today are all close to home in Old Ottawa South; the closest examples are thirty seconds from my front door. I have more of this to come over the next couple of days.

This last bush is nearly overwhelming the lion sculpture beside it.

  11. Beautiful, William, it's always great to see the blossoms come after a long and cold winter. Because we didn't have any winter this year, the blossoms were very soon this year. Meanwhile all the blossoms have gone overhere.

  18. Is it any wonder that we look forward to spring! The tree I posted today gets huge white blossoms in spring but I visited it too late this year.

  19. @Jan: we still have some lilacs doing nicely, and those white blossoms as well.

    @VP: thank you!

    @Mike: thanks!

    @Lois: they are pretty.

    @Jane and Chris: I haven't seen much in the way of apple blossoms this year.

    @Sharon: thanks!

    @Lowell: it's been a good spring for flowers and these blossoms.

    @Tex: where I grew up we had some bushes that really bloomed nicely.

    @Norma: but winter is good!

    @Judy: I'll check it out! I was looking for a snowball blossom shrub this year, but haven't found one.

  31. There is nothing like spring shrubs and trees, is there?

  32. It's fascinating to see the time line of spring between Virginia's pictures in Birmingham, what I see here, and your posts up in Ottawa. Latitude rules.

  33. I live in the land of very mild weather. For us to see spring time scenes such as these, we have to go to them (which we do). Our darned local palm trees don't blossom at all! Beautiful photos William.

  34. Truth. Trees bloom shortly. It's easy to miss a moment.
