Mrs. Tiggy Winkles is the name of a toy store in Ottawa. The company website lists five stores, all here in the city, so it is a local endeavour. One can be found in the Glebe, where at the moment one of the front windows is occupied by Grumpy Cat merchandise and the odd Rubik's Cube.
Grumpy Cat, for those who don't know, is actually named Tardar Sauce, the perpetually frowning small cat whose disdainful sour look launched a million memes. She is a cutie... not that she cares.
I love Tard!!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, dear! Another piece of popular culture about which I've remained clueless.
ReplyDeletePoor Crumpy Cat, become a selling item for its looks.
ReplyDeleteI rather thought all cats were grumpy. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe obviously has lots of fans!
ReplyDeleteAnd a Facebook following no doubt
ReplyDeleteLove GC. Audrey could give her a run for her money, though. (Big money)
ReplyDeleteSomeone is making a fortune off that cat!
ReplyDeletethe grump cat has really taken off. it is funny what in this world makes people happy or gets great sales. do you think tyler perry movies are boring, not your style or you just don't like him in general? curious? ( :
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this grumpy cat. Good thing I read your blog as it keeps me current. :))
ReplyDeletetoo funny. hadn't seen grumpy cat merchandise before (i don't shop - ever!)
ReplyDeleteRubik's Cube and Grumpy Cat, that's an odd pairing William :) although I can see how struggling with the RC could make you grumpy :)
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of grumpy cat before but it certainly has a huge product line.
ReplyDelete@Linda: she is adorable.
ReplyDelete@Kay: I know some people have not heard of her before.
@Marianne: there's a lot of merchandise out there making use of her looks.
@Revrunner: they can be if you rub their tummy more than three times.
@Marleen: she does!
@Mo: a big Facebook following, in fact.
@Deb: oh, yes, the Audrey glare is priceless!
@Linda: most definitely.
@Beth: and apparently she's a sweetie in person. As to Tyler Perry, the trailers for his films, even if he's not playing that old grandmother in drag, are like fingernails on a blackboard for me. The only film I've seen him do in full was the Alex Cross one, and he was completely miscast.
@EG: Grumpy Cat's quite famous now.
@Tex: I pass this store frequently. The other window tends to get stocked with jigsaw puzzles.
@Grace: a very odd pairing.
@Sharon: she does, yes.
I didn't know they had made toys of her. Her owner must be very pleased.
ReplyDeleteThis should be a popular place with that cute toy for sale.
ReplyDeleteGot a warm place in my heart for kitty pictures, meme or not. Meow!
ReplyDeleteHow cute. If you like cats.
ReplyDeleteThe next Hello Kitty!
ReplyDeletearen't all cats grumpy? - ok don't answer that I'm running for the kennel already!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Grumpy Cat. I've heard of grumpy old men! I've been grumpy sometimes!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable !
ReplyDeleteI enjoy when you do the window photos.
I remember the set up of bobble head former mayor !
So bad.
cheers, parsnip
Lol. What a wonderful place!
ReplyDeleteWish I'd thought to market one of the cats!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Someone is making a lot of money!
ReplyDeleteO wow. A grumpy cat face is spinning a business venture. Insane what lengths some will go to market anything for money.
ReplyDelete@Denise: they obviously do sell well.
ReplyDelete@Judy: it's a toy store that tends to cater more to an educational interactive side. You won't find action figures here.
@Birdman: as far as I'm concerned, cats are the ultimate form of life on the planet.
@Eve: cats are adorable!
@Shelly: indeed.
@Gerald: run, man!
@Red: hah!
@Parsnip: I doubt old Robbie would have appreciated those bobble heads.
@Ciel: it's quite a shop. I've been in the odd time.
@Jane and Chris: oh well!
@RedPat: definitely.
@Gemma: it's a crazy world.
I do like Grumpy Cat, but I had no idea she had merchandise!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great marketing device! We have enough grumpy cats around here!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how grumpy Grumpy really is, but I can imagine it's founding father won't be grumpy at all.
ReplyDeleteI need one of these for my desk, lol.
ReplyDeletedidn't realize it was a big thing?
ReplyDeleteIncredible, but then, hey, that is what I thought about Beanie Babies.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Grumpy Cat on the internet but I didn't know there was a line of merchandise.
ReplyDeleteI know at least one real grumpy cat, but didn't know about this...
ReplyDeleteI love Grumpy Cat...almost as much as I love the Minions!
ReplyDeleteI never knew who this cat was until I started visiting you.
ReplyDeletei had to come back to see what you said about my ? ... your words is well said. i agree to disagree and that is totally cool. that is what makes the world go round. no worries ... enjoy your week. ( :
ReplyDeleteI must be out of it as I've never heard of Grumpy Cat. Hm.
ReplyDelete@Lois: it's not a surprise.
ReplyDelete@Jennifer: Grumpy Cat rules!
@Jan: apparently the real cat isn't a grouch, she just looks that way.
@Randy: I'd like that one.
@Gill: that it is.
@Mari: she rules!
@Linda: it's to be expected.
@VP: she's well known now.
@Norma: she rules!
@Whisk: thanks!
@Beth: thank you.
@Pamela: now you have.
