Here are more of the display cases featuring birds of various sizes in the Bird Gallery at the Museum of Nature.
Dioramas, mixing together the specimens with a painted background, include grouse of the prairies or a bird of prey found along the shores of Ontario's Great Lakes.
More of the display cases finish out the Gallery space.
Beautiful birds
ReplyDeleteOn one hand it is sad that they are dead but wonderful that we can see them and learn about them.
You live in a wonderful city.
cheers, parsnip
The place for me to be...
ReplyDeleteThe dioramas are especially appealing. Well done, they can really give the sense of habitat and context. Skillful taxidermy and artistic presentation at its best.
ReplyDelete...and they all posed for you!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sad to know that a lot of people, living in big cities, hardly have the chance to see birds and other animals in daily life ...
ReplyDeleteIt makes me realize I'm living in a privileged situation for that matter.
Lovely birds. And the dioramas are beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteJust so very beautiful,

Lovely displays, I particularly am glad to see the flight silhouettes! On my travels that is often the way I see these hunting birds, and wonder which kind of hawk they are. Or maybe osprey or eagle... Thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteTheir collection is huge!
ReplyDeleteThe dioramas in particular are great!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised they put these birds in order of size rather than by species.
