As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the second floor allows for multiple viewpoints over the collection at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.
If you look closely below, you'll see one of the Museum's workers on his ladder working on cleaning one of the planes. We'll pick up with this tomorrow to conclude the series.
nice viewpoint. interesting series of post, I specially liked the space part.
ReplyDeleteI love the architecture. Clever done, so much free space.
ReplyDeleteThey sure have packed them in.
ReplyDeleteVery nice view ...
ReplyDeleteI love all the planes!
That must be a great place to visit for small boys, and big ones too.
ReplyDeleteUma maravilha este museu.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e continuação de uma boa semana.

ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. The prop planes are charming and scary at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThey have really utilized every inch of space in the hangar!

The collection they show is impressive!
ReplyDelete...the biplanes are always of interest.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a wonderful job in showing us around, thanks!
ReplyDeleteHello, it is a neat view of all the planes. Enjoy your day and week ahead.
ReplyDeletewhat a cool collection, thanks for sharing. i'm always a fan of all things planes. owe that to my Dad. ( ;
ReplyDeleteNice overview of a fine museum. :-)
ReplyDeleteFantastic to see the layout now. Great structural building to give so much space to the displayed planes. And that someone is maintaining the displays is also interesting...I can imagine those wingspans get pretty dusty over time...so they must have a great system for cleaning regularly, but not climbing out on the wings with a feather duster! Vacuum system comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThese pics really give you an idea of the scale of the place!
ReplyDeleteWake up every day of your life and polish planes.
ReplyDelete@Klara: thank you!
ReplyDelete@Iris: it is all well laid out.
@Joan: and yet they have plenty of space for the paths and for cleaners to get around the aircraft.
@Ella: so do I.
@Rosemary: and girls!
@Francisco: thanks!
@Gattina: it is, yes.
@Maywyn: they're formidable planes.
@Janis: and done so in the right way.
@Marleen: I agree.
@Tom: definitely.
@Jan: you're welcome.
@Eileen: thanks!
@Beth: you're welcome.
@DJan: that it is.
@Barbara: I saw another cleaner, and I suspect that some of the tools they use are customized for reach. I also think that they might make use of hydraulic lifts from time to time in addition to ladders.
@RedPat: they do!
@Anvilcloud: quite a job.
They have a lot of planes packed into that space.
ReplyDeleteSuch a good view from up there, can see quite clearly how much there is to see on the floor!
ReplyDeleteLove the bird’s eye views.
ReplyDeleteThe staircase in the background is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteGreat views, great pictures.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
That's a great view, well done, William.
ReplyDeleteThat place is massive. Great shots. Tweeted.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep those aircraft cleaned and don't imagine it's done too often. More great aircraft as in the previous posts, William.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: they certainly do.
ReplyDelete@Grace: it was a good idea to add this in as part of the architecture.
@Marie: I do as well.
@Sandi: yes, it's a good touch.
@Jan: thank you.
@Bill: thanks!
@Mari: thank you.
@Beatrice: I imagine there's a set schedule for each plane, but I also think the cleaning staff have a full time schedule, so one might often see a plane being seen to during a visit.
Boy, those places are big! You really notice it when you look at the people and they look like little ants.
ReplyDeleteI like your overview as it shows that they have a lot jammed into the building.
ReplyDeleteWhen staying in Vancouver last fall, sea planes took off and landed in view of our hotel room.Fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteThe second floor makes it clear what a vast collection resides there. It's very impressive!
ReplyDeleteWilliam - the thought of the fellow on the ladder cleaning the airplanes … I will NEVER complain about cleaning my house again!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing museum, thanks for sharing your photos:)
ReplyDeleteImpressive space ;)
ReplyDelete@Jeanie: it's a huge space.
ReplyDelete@Red: but quite well spacious to walk through.
@Janey: periodically I've seen sea planes like that.
@Kay: that it is.
@Angie: quite a job.
@Rosie: you're welcome.
@Klara: that it is.
