Overview Of The Hanger

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, the second floor allows for multiple viewpoints over the collection at the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

If you look closely below, you'll see one of the Museum's workers on his ladder working on cleaning one of the planes. We'll pick up with this tomorrow to conclude the series.

  14. Fantastic to see the layout now. Great structural building to give so much space to the displayed planes. And that someone is maintaining the displays is also interesting...I can imagine those wingspans get pretty dusty over time...so they must have a great system for cleaning regularly, but not climbing out on the wings with a feather duster! Vacuum system comes to mind.

  17. @Klara: thank you!

    @Iris: it is all well laid out.

    @Joan: and yet they have plenty of space for the paths and for cleaners to get around the aircraft.

    @Ella: so do I.

    @Rosemary: and girls!

    @Francisco: thanks!

    @Gattina: it is, yes.

    @Maywyn: they're formidable planes.

    @Janis: and done so in the right way.

    @Marleen: I agree.

    @Tom: definitely.

    @Jan: you're welcome.

    @Eileen: thanks!

    @Beth: you're welcome.

    @DJan: that it is.

    @Barbara: I saw another cleaner, and I suspect that some of the tools they use are customized for reach. I also think that they might make use of hydraulic lifts from time to time in addition to ladders.

    @RedPat: they do!

    @Anvilcloud: quite a job.

  24. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep those aircraft cleaned and don't imagine it's done too often. More great aircraft as in the previous posts, William.

  25. @Sharon: they certainly do.

    @Grace: it was a good idea to add this in as part of the architecture.

    @Marie: I do as well.

    @Sandi: yes, it's a good touch.

    @Jan: thank you.

    @Bill: thanks!

    @Mari: thank you.

    @Beatrice: I imagine there's a set schedule for each plane, but I also think the cleaning staff have a full time schedule, so one might often see a plane being seen to during a visit.
